Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly sabbath. I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord.

The Feast of Trumpets is now past and this coming Tuesday is the Fast of Atonement. I am beginning to calculate the dates of the annual sabbaths for the coming year. When this is done I will mention it in the newsletter and it will be posted on the website on the web page which discusses the Sacred Calendar and the various ways it is calculated.

You may be interested to know that I have discovered a historical reference of a name which matches the spelling of the name of God I have chosen. The spelling is actually for a king of Israel whose name is almost identical in the Hebrew for the name of God. You can find this with any search engine. There are numerous acronyms and an island which also match the name IAUA.

My primary topic for this newsletter is some observations about Jewish traditions. I have observed something very interesting which caused me a bit of awkwardness. My reaction led to a response which may have caused some hurt feelings. It also led me to a great deal of thought on this subject. Let me tell you about it.

I have encountered individuals who along with accepting the annual sabbaths are also very caught up in Jewish traditions. I was asked my thoughts and understandings about various traditions. I was surprised by this and commented that I was not really interested in Jewish traditions. This surprised them because they assumed I was interested in Jewish tradition because I believe in the annual sabbaths and wear the tzitzit. I tried to explain that I was only interested in God's commands in the statutes which is not the same thing as Jewish tradition.

I have also learned that there are prominent Adventists with a Jewish heritage who do not believe in the modern observance of the annual sabbaths but are actively promoting the understanding and use of Jewish traditions. This comes to me as a bit of a surprise. I have also heard of a General Conference program which also actively promotes an understanding of Jewish traditions.

This seems very interesting and somewhat odd at the same time. I have also noticed presentations lately in sermons and broadcasts which use themes, ideas, texts, and illustrations which also point to the Third Elijah Message and the Fourth Angel's Message but they are actually talking about the weekly sabbath or something else. It seems like the Holy Spirit is strongly impressing people with concepts that lead to something they don't quite see yet.

Maybe I see these things only because I have studied these topics so intensely. I am sensitized to the subject so that I see things I have studied but that aren't intended. What do you think?

On the subject of interest in Jewish traditions, I have a concern. It seems possible to me that Satan can use an interest in traditions as a distraction from the greater truths. The problem of tradition replacing God's commandments was noted by the Messiah.

Matthew 15:2-3 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Paul also had some comments about the dangers of tradition.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Peter also mentions tradition.

I Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

It is important to note that I recognize that traditions are not always "bad". Traditions that contradict the word of God are "bad". I am also concerned about the danger of traditions distracting from truth. One way that this can occur is when more time being spent studying traditions than studying the truth.

I would appreciate your comments and thoughts.

May we all find peace and unity in the soon coming of IAUShUO (Ee-uh-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.

Shabbat Shalom,
