The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord. This is the 18th day of the first month. It is two days until the evening of the second Unleavened Sabbath (Monday April 9). It is six weeks and four days until the evening of Pentecost Sabbath (Wednesday May 23).

The week of Unleavened Bread has begun. In this week which begins and ends with a yearly Sabbath we abstain from eating bread made with yeast. This act symbolizes removing sin from our lives. In the fullest sense, we are not to have any leaven or yeast anywhere in our homes. It is probable that this actually means there should be nothing fermented at all in our diet and our homes.

We certainly recognize that the cup of the Passover (Lord's Supper) must contain pure unfermented grape juice. The time of Passover is the ideal time to participate in the Lord's Supper for this is the time when He attached a special new meaning and significance to the Passover meal.

Matthew 26:26-29
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it; and he gave to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
27 And he took a cup, and gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many unto remission of sins.
29 But I say unto you, I shall not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

My last newsletter stirred up some controversy. There have been a couple of other controversial situations that have occurred this week. Controversy is very dangerous. It leads so quickly to disputes, hurt feelings, anger, and bitterness.

The whole subject of God's law has been a source of controversy since the fall of Satan and continues to this day. It is so important to not stir up controversy but to seek unity. The truth cannot be discarded for the sake of unity but controversial points are to be approached with great caution.

I have often studied the writing of Ellen White on this subject. She had much to say. I will close with one of many interesting quotes from "Selected Messages".

Our church members see that there are differences of opinion among the leading men, and they themselves enter into controversy regarding the subjects under dispute. Christ calls for unity. But He does not call for us to unify on wrong practices. The God of heaven draws a sharp contrast between pure, elevating, ennobling truth and false, misleading doctrines. He calls sin and impenitence by the right name. He does not gloss over wrongdoing with a coat of untempered mortar. I urge our brethren to unify upon a true, scriptural basis.--Manuscript 10, 1905. {1SM 175.1}

I pray that we may all continue to strive for peace and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-uh-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.

Shabbat Shalom,
