Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 27th day of the 11th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6013 Anno Mundi.

It is 6 weeks and 5 days until the Spring Sabbaths begin on the evening of the 15th day of the 1st month (Wednesday, March 31 on the 2010 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Tuesday, March 30).

This year, those who follow the Millerite Calendar determination will be one month later than my research has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates for God's Sacred Calendar. The dates on the Jewish Calendar are one day earlier in the spring and one day early in the fall.

One of the biggest dangers to spiritual growth and advancing in truth is to be distracted by the things of this earth. The Children of Israel, the followers of the Lamb are continually looking to eternity and following the witness of those who practiced obedience and faith before us.

Hebrews 11
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

The next biggest danger is to be deluded into practicing falsehood when you think you are practicing truth. Those with a love for the truth diligently search the scriptures to be prepared for the delusions of Satan. One of the many issues facing the children of Israel has been brought into my attention several times recently.

There is a Biblical principle which appears repeatedly in the scriptures. There is a symbolism of light and darkness which is more than a symbol but is also a reality.

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

II Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

I Thessalonians 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

I John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

All around me I see unusual choices of the use of black as backgrounds for symbols of light. I am told black is more "dramatic". Book covers, stage sets, props, and lighting are increasingly using black and darkness as the theme. I am told these set a "mood". The handful of verses I quoted above are a small set of thousands which testify to this "mood". The testimony is not positive.

Adventist churches and camp meetings are adopting the creation of "prayer rooms" where the theme is black and darkness. What does this truly represent? There appears to be a growing amount of Eastern mysticism entering our churches. This is an insightful article.

Some interesting quotes:

"Have you heard any of the following terms: Prayer labyrinth, taizé prayer, spiritual disciplines, spiritual formation, and spiritual directors? What about God-encounters, the silence, sacred spaces of meditation, contemplative prayer, centering prayer, breath prayer, and Jesus prayer?"

"Since the kiss between Eastern and Western mystical practices, there has been an increasing popularity of the use of rosaries, candles, incense, spiritual directors (persons who promote or train people in the spiritual disciplines, including “the silence”), prayer labyrinth, taizé prayer, “centering prayer,” and the lectio divina."

"There is an emphasis on being still and silent and passive in order to receive guidance from the inner light."

Another relevant quote from an inspired author:

"Much so-called Christianity passes for genuine, faithful soundness, but it is because those who profess it have no persecution to endure for the truth's sake. When the day comes when the law of God is made void, and the church is sifted by the fiery trials that are to try all that live upon the earth, a great proportion of those who are supposed to be genuine will give heed to seducing spirits, and will turn traitors and betray sacred trusts. They will prove our very worst persecutors. "Of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them;" and many will give heed to seducing spirits." {RH, June 8, 1897 par. 12}

I believe the Law of God is already being made void in the church. Under the label of the "Law of Moses", God's Law is already being dismissed and excused. This leads to an ongoing erosion of our fidelity and sensitivity to Biblical issues.

Those who are looking to eternity will follow a daily practice of turning away from the things of darkness in this world which distract us from the eternal light.

Does a love for the principles of truth lead you to look to eternity or are following the seductive sensual feelings of the worldly approaches to God?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
