Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 5th day of the 5th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6014 Anno Mundi.

The yearly Fall Sabbaths begin in 7 weeks and 6 days starting with Trumpets Sabbath the evening of the 1st day of the 7th month (Thursday, September 29th on the 2011 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Wednesday, September 28th).

An amazing thing occurs in the Gregorian Calendar years of both 2011 and 2012. Those who follow the Millerite Calendar and the Jewish Calendar agree with what my research, and many others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar!

There are many other serious events such as disasters of unprecedented magnitude and frequency. The Bible speaks of these times and seeks to direct our focus. These are only temporary problems in the eternal scheme.

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
Luke 21:25-28
The same type of perplexity exists in the church in these last days, with the conflict over the Law of Moses in general and the "feasts" or yearly Sabbaths in particular. This is a concern of eternal consequence. Well-meaning people on both sides of the dispute are troubled by the apparent lack of guidance from Ellen White on the subject of the yearly Sabbaths.

Deep study has convinced me she has much to say of guidance. You may wonder why she wasn't more detailed and specific. I believe the Holy Spirit led her as far as the church was willing to go at the time. It is the same problem we observe with the leaders of the Reformation. We could wonder why Wesley did not worship on the seventh-day Sabbath.

Let us consider Ellen's own words on this subject:

"In Wesley's time, as in all ages of the church's history, men of different gifts performed their appointed work. They did not harmonize upon every point of doctrine, but all were moved by the Spirit of God, and united in the absorbing aim to win souls to Christ..." {4SP 176.3} {GC88 257.3} {GC 257.3}

Also in her own words:

"No truth is more clearly taught in the Bible than that God by His Holy Spirit especially directs His servants on earth in the great movements for the carrying forward of the work of salvation. Men are instruments in the hand of God, employed by Him to accomplish His purposes of grace and mercy. Each has his part to act; to each is granted a measure of light, adapted to the necessities of his time, and sufficient to enable him to perform the work which God has given him to do. But no man, however honored of Heaven, has ever attained to a full understanding of the great plan of redemption, or even to a perfect appreciation of the divine purpose in the work for his own time. Men do not fully understand what God would accomplish by the work which He gives them to do; they do not comprehend, in all its bearings, the message which they utter in His name." {GC88 343.2} {GC 343.2}

The dispute over the "feasts" is essentially a dispute over the Law of Moses. This topic was known to the early Adventist church as the "Added law", the "Two laws", and the "Ceremonial law". After the resistance of the church she made this statement.

"I have something to say to you that I should withhold no longer. I have been looking in vain as yet to get an article that was written nearly twenty years ago in reference to the "added law." I read this to Elder [J. H.] Waggoner. I stated then to him that I had been shown [that] his position in regard to the law was incorrect, and from the statements I made to him he has been silent upon the subject for many years." {1888 21.1}

"... I did see years ago that Elder [J. H.] Waggoner's views were not correct, and read to him matter which I had written. The matter does not lie clear and distinct in my mind yet. I cannot grasp the matter, and for this reason I am fully convinced that presenting it has been not only untimely, but deleterious." {1888 22.2}

Apparently the Holy Spirit led her clearly on the question of the law until the church began to resist then the matter was put in reserve until a later time.

Consider this excerpt of a James White statement in Appendix II of Counsels on Diet and Foods concerning the difficulties of adopting the principles of Health Reform because of the resistance of the church and consider an adaptation of these words applied to the difficulties and principles of the subject of the "Added Law". I have included in brackets the word "Law" to illustrate applying the same principles about the presentation of health reform to the presentation of the subject of the Law of Moses.

"Mrs. White has spoken on the health [Law] question in a manner to give entire satisfaction. Her remarks were clear and forcible, yet prudent, so that she carried the feelings of the entire congregation with her. On this subject she always avoids extremes, and is careful to take only those positions where she is quite sure not to excite prejudices." {CD 495.2}

"The people are easily excited and prejudiced upon the subject of health reform [Moses Law], if those who handle it are unfortunate in the selection of the occasion, or in the style in which they present it, especially if they stand before the people in the light of extremists. … There is not one in ten of our preachers who are suitably informed, and properly guarded, to handle the health [Law] question in its several branches before the people. And the amount of harm done to the cause of present truth by the injudicious course of those who have introduced the subject of health [Law] reform at the wrong time and place, and in a wrong manner, can hardly be estimated." {CD 495.3}

"I have yet many things to say unto you," said Jesus, "but ye cannot bear them now." Jesus knew how to lead along the minds of his disciples. The Lord also knew how to introduce to his waiting people the great subject of health [Law] reform, step by step, as they could bear it, and make a good use of it, without souring the public mind…" {CD 495.4}

"When we had gained a good victory over these things, and when the Lord saw that we were able to bear it, light was given relative to food and dress [feasts]. And the cause of health [Law] reform among our people moved steadily forward, and great changes were made…" {CD 496.1}

The subject of health reform and the law of Moses directly interact when it comes to the matter of blood and animal fat in the diet.
"Upon their settlement in Canaan, the Israelites were permitted the use of animal food, but under careful restrictions which tended to lessen the evil results. The use of swine's flesh was prohibited, as also of other animals and of birds and fish whose flesh was pronounced unclean. Of the meats permitted, the eating of the fat and the blood was strictly forbidden." {MH 311.3}

"Only such animals could be used for food as were in good condition. No creature that was torn, that had died of itself, or from which the blood had not been carefully drained, could be used as food." {MH 312.1}

Almost all modern production and preparation of meat is designed to increase fat and retain the blood in the meat. Even "clean" meat is thus made "unclean". Her strongest statement on this subject, with quotes from Leviticus.
"Your family have partaken largely of flesh meats, and the animal propensities have been strengthened, while the intellectual have been weakened. We are composed of what we eat, and if we subsist largely upon the flesh of dead animals we shall partake of their nature. You have encouraged the grosser part of your organism, while the more refined has been weakened. You have repeatedly said in defense of your indulgence of meat eating: "However injurious it may be to others, it does not injure me, for I have used it all my life." But you know not how well you might have been if you had abstained from the use of flesh meats. As a family, you are far from being free from disease. You have used the fat of animals, which God in His word expressly forbids: "It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood." [Leviticus 3:17] "Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings. Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people." [Leviticus 7:26-27]" {2T 60.4}

Ultimately it is the Word of God, which gives us our clearest guidance in these last days on the subject of the "Law of Moses".

4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
Malachi 4:4

Are you distracted by worldly concerns or focusing on eternal consequences?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
