Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Home / Archives

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 16th day of the 6th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6017 Anno Mundi.

The fall Holy Day season begins with Trumpets Sabbath in 2 weeks and 1 day on the evening of the 1st day of the 7th month (Sabbath, September 7th on the 2013, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset on Friday, September 6th).

The Sacred month begins on the world day after lunar conjunction and the sacred year begins with the Spring Passover Rule dates my research, and others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is a month late this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is two days early in the fall this year.

Mario Petrovalle • Discussion on the Second Coming of Christ - Aug. 2013

Our Bible student is ready for the next study about the second coming of Christ.

It is the blessed hope of the church, the grand climax of the gospel. The Saviour's coming will be literal, personal, visible, and worldwide. When He returns, the righteous dead will be resurrected, and together with the righteous living will be glorified and taken to heaven, but the unrighteous will die. The almost complete fulfillment of most lines of prophecy, together with the present condition of the world, indicates that Christ's coming is imminent. The time of that event has not been revealed, and we are therefore exhorted to be ready at all times.

Robert Mass • Thanks Mario, I'll kindly go through the given Bible texts prior to raising any questions.

Cheers,

Robs

Frank T. Clark • Robert,

"Final Events" is a fantastic video!

This is a deep subject. If you take a narrow, superficial viewpoint, many religions agree with the general idea of our Savior's return. Most people are very complacent about His return. They don't see it as an imminent reality. For the Adventist, it takes on an intense focus. While even many Adventists are complacent (Laodicean) some see it in a different light. It is soon and critical.

In a broader viewpoint, there is much disagreement on what takes place during, before, and after His return. Some of the events surrounding the Second Advent relate directly to the issues of the state of the dead.

I eagerly await your questions.

Rev. Jan Michael Nace, ThD • Here's my evangelism side coming out. Is it as important knowing the details as it is being ready? Seems the theme of the NT is "be ready." Details in NT are essentially "things are going to get worse, so be ready." As for chronologies of how things will unfold, I fear many in the evangelical church world have spun their wheels with endless conjectures and personal interpretations. Let's spread the message "things will not get better until Jesus comes so be saved/baptized today and serve Him. Then look for His appearing!"

Frank T. Clark • Jan,

I am glad to see you participating. Your suggestion is a very common one for the "evangelist" who emphasizes the beginning and glosses over the development of results. This leads to the common problem of being baptized in the front door with great fanfare and silently disappearing out the back door. This also results in the Laodicean condition. There is a place for the "evangelist" and there is a place for the "teacher".

Eph 4:11 And truly He gave some to be apostles, and some to be prophets, and some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,
Eph 4:12 for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
Eph 4:13 And this until we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
Eph 4:14 so that we no longer may be infants, tossed to and fro and carried about by every wind of doctrine, in the dishonesty of men, in cunning craftiness, to the wiles of deceit.
Eph 4:15 But that you, speaking the truth in love, may in all things grow up to Him who is the Head, even Christ;

The evangelist says "You need to be ready!" the teacher says "This is what the Bible says about how to be ready." I agree there is no place for conjecture but the Bible has told us a great deal about TRUTH and details beyond "be ready". You mention "serve Him" but the teacher uses the Bible to tell us how to serve Him. This is the "perfecting", "knowledge", "full-grown", so that we "may in all things grow up".

Rev. Jan Michael Nace, ThD • Frank: With respect to your comments I would like to say a real convert, someone who has had a real experience of conversion, will not disappear out the back door of a church very easily. I am a teacher as well as evangelist, so I appreciate your concern for doctrine rightly taught. But after 45 years of ministry, I can say in good conscience grounding people after conversion into the real Jesus Christ (Biblical Jesus) and teaching them to pray and win others to the Lord is doing a lot more for the Kingdom of God than the plethora of teaching in the church world today on end times that is causing confusion and strife. Give me people on fire for the Lord, and the Holy Spirit will lead them into ALL truth (John 16:13;1 John 2:22,27).

Frank T. Clark • Jan,

I agree wholeheartedly with the idea of what you are saying. You are absolutely correct that there is a lot of error and nonsense being taught. Do not for one minute think I am talking about non-Adventists. I am sad to say there is a lot of error and nonsense being taught in the Adventist denomination also. I wish it were true that converts would be on fire and seek for deeper truth. Unfortunately the Bible prophesies and I have observed something quite different occurs.

Rev 3:17 Because you say, I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing, and do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,

I hope your strict adherence to literal interpretation does not lead you to think this is talking about physical goods. I believe it is clearly talking about a spiritual wealth of knowledge.

So in our discussion of the Second Coming I would agree with what you are saying that we need to stick with what the Bible says and not fanciful speculation. I believe Mario has done that in the opening and I believe that the "Final Events" video also sticks closely to the Bible. The Bible tells us a great deal about the Second Coming. The deep student of the Bible will search out the truth and our Savior promises they will find it.

Rev. Jan Michael Nace, ThD • Thank you Frank for such a supportive comment. My literal interpretation is not as inflexible as it may appear, as I believe in the plain meaning of the literal and in Revelation 3 naturally it is plainly a spiritual application to the spiritual condition of the church.

I have Adventists on a pedestal at times due to my respect for them and non-membership with them so thank you for adding that comment.

Now to the subject at hand. Like you I fully believe (and teach) detailed end time scenerios and events, but with the disclaimer that only God knows for sure any details that are not clearly revealed in Scripture. I think problems come in when people [no one on this discussion] become dogmatic and unwilling to look at new ways of interpretation. That is why I enjoy this site and try my best to learn new insights. But in good conscience I will speak when I have different takes on some things and so far that position has been warmly received for which I am grateful and it continues to keep me participating.

Frank T. Clark • Jan,

I have a suspicion that even some things that are "plainly" revealed may surprise us in the way they occur. I believe a lot of prophecy is most plainly understood after it occurs interpreting our Savior's words:

John 14:29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

I also believe there are some things that are not necessarily "plainly" revealed but are still open for a limited understanding to the deep student of the Bible. This is why it is important to recognize there are different levels of understanding which need to be carefully addressed at different times and places. There are things I would never say in a public forum.

Rev. Jan Michael Nace, ThD • I agree with you that the Lord will reward serious study. But as you said these blessings and insights are generally not for public expression but for those to whom these things have been revealed . But those things which are for the greater good of the whole Body of Christ need to be shared and will stand the scrutiny of mature believers if the beliefs are really from God. John 14:29 is evidently referring to the event of Jesus returning to the Father, and in my perspective, is not a general hermeneutic for Bible interpretation of other prophecies. But Frank I agree with you that predictive prophecy is impossible to be totally understood until it is fulfilled.

Rev. Jan Michael Nace, ThD • Frank, after reading John 13:19 as well as Jn 14:29 I concur with you that these two verses [Jn 14:29 & Jn 13:19] could be used as interpretative hermeneutic verses.

Frank T. Clark • Jan,

In my adaptation of the scientific method to Bible study, I use a general principle of Biblical interpretation that God does everything in patterns (getting a little beyond general public consumption and the current topic but within the parameters of this focus study group and prophecy). I discuss this in a little depth in one of my ministry newsletters:

http://www.iaua.name/Archives/2012/2012-10-19.html

When there is a pattern, we will generally find it mentioned a couple of times in the Bible as you noted. I would also add that John 16:14 adds a bit to the pattern that an important (primary?) purpose of prophecy is to build faith upon fulfillment.

These things will have an important application as we dig deeper into an understanding of what Bible prophecy teaches about the Second Advent. An important topic to Adventists. I am eager to see what questions arise.

Rev. Jan Michael Nace, ThD • Frank: I am clueless on scientific method so can't really dialog on that. But I would agree God is consistent and does work in predictable patterns if we discover or have them revealed to us. Of course this does not provide us with any advantage other than personal spiritual blessings to bless the Church by sharing insights that God has given us.

Frank T. Clark • Jan,

The scientific method is not magical or mysterious. I think you sell yourself short. Hermeneutics [principles] and exegesis [interpretation] are grounded in an adaptation of the scientific method when separated from being used as tools to simply continue tradition or offer excuses for choosing to believe the way we want to believe, rather than an honest and open evaluation of the evidence of Scripture.

Our Savior is returning! We need to bring every tool and every effort we have to bear on preparing for this glorious event. Are we ready? Are we "Preparing for the End of Time"?

Are you engaged in a lifelong learning, pursuit of knowledge, increasing your understanding of God's Truth?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
