Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!  Are you ready?

Home / Archives

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 5th day of the 13th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6017 Anno Mundi.

The Spring Holy Day season begins the New Year in 5 weeks and 4 days with Passover on the evening of the 15th day of the 1st month (Tuesday, April 15th on the 2014, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset on Monday, April 14th).

The Sacred month begins on the world day after lunar conjunction and the sacred year begins with the Spring Passover Rule dates my research, and others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is the same this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is the same in the spring this year.

The LinkedIn discussion of the date of our Savior's birth has again become active with some new details and the continued ostrich viewpoint of those who reject greater truth.

Mario asked me to post this:

Christ was born in the fall of the year, either in September or October. Very likely it was October.

You can arrive at that conclusion very simply using the 2300 day prophecy. We know that the prophecy began with the decree to rebuild Jerusalem that went out in the fall of 457 BC. The first 70 weeks (490 years) of the prophecy were allotted to the Jews. The last week extended to the stoning of Stephen in 34 AD, and Messiah was cut off in the midst of the week, 3 ½ years earlier. His baptism was 3 ½ years before that at the end of the 69 weeks and the start of the final week.

So here is how we figure it. The first week of the 70 weeks began in the fall of the year and therefore each succeeding week must also begin at the fall of the year. Therefore, Christ’s baptism, at the start of the final week, was in the fall of the year 27 AD. This is confirmed by the fact that His crucifixion 3 ½ years later was in the spring of 31 AD.

In Luke 3:23, in connection with Jesus’ baptism, it is said, “And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph…”

The word translated “began” is archomai which means, “to commence (in order of time): - rehearse from the) begin (-ning)” (Strong).

The word “about” is translated from hōsei, which means, “as it were, (had been), as though” (Thayer).

So on the day of His baptism, Jesus commenced to be “as though” He had been thirty years old. In other words, He was baptized on His 30th birthday.

It was “as though” He were 30 years old, because in truth, He is the “ancient of days” without beginning or ending. In the same way, as Luke begins to give Christ’s genealogy, he says, “being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph” because in truth, He was neither the son of Joseph nor the son of Mary in terms of beginnings because He existed through all eternity before the incarnation.

In any case, Jesus’ 30th birthday was the day of His baptism which occurred in the fall of the year 27 AD.

I just read Jim Ayars' Greek exegesis that supports the reading of Jesus' ministry starting from that day. I hadn't done a complete exegesis like that and didn't have any Bible versions that translate it that way so I've learned something new.

Evidently we already knew that His ministry started at that time so in that sense its not new. However, I don't see that exegesis contradicting my conclusion in the least. His ministry began from His baptism. True. But that in itself is further evidence that it was very likely His 30th birthday that day.

Jesus' entire life was a fulfillment of the ceremonial law as well as the moral law. The 30th birthday was the day a Levite was authorized by the law to begin ministering in the tabernacle (Numbers 4:3). That is why Luke draws our attention to the fact that Jesus was 30 years old as He began His ministry. Its another evidence of His fulfilling the law to the very letter. And being that He always did fulfill it to the very letter, why would He wait until a week, or a month after His 30th birthday? Even less likely, it would seem, that He would wait six months from the time the law said He is eligible to get started! It makes sense that come His 30th birthday, He'd go get Himself baptized and get on with the ministry He was now authorized to do.

By the same token, a Tabernacles birth fits with the incarnation perfectly.

Ian,

Very good analysis, with some additional detail not covered previously. Some would disagree with your analysis of the Greek but it matches my limited study, not being a Greek expert.

There are some reasons why I suspect the baptism preceded His actual birthday by about 45 days but they are very complex and highly subject to dispute. There are also reasons why I suspect it was closer to September on the Gregorian Calendar than October but they are also very complex and highly subject to dispute.

Basically, we agree. Thank you for contributing.

Frank,

I would not be able to show any evidence for October over September. Maybe I'm influenced a bit by my own birthday falling 115 years to the day after Christ commenced His Most Holy place ministry. That kind of feels special and it just seemed like a neat thing if He was also born on October 22. Not very scholarly to be sure!

When we get to heaven let's ask Him. Would you like to have the honor? :-)

Ian, thank you for bringing your comment over from another discussion. I have added another event to my webpage about Jesus fulfillment of the Old Testament. Here is the page http://www.diggingfortruth.org/article/1510/ I added Luke 3: 23 fulfills Numbers 4: 3

Let it go. We are as bad as the rabbi's. An old saying about the Rabbis is, "where there are 12 Rabbis there are 13 opinions. He lived, He died in our place. He rose again and sits beside the father. He is coming back. Are we believers? That is the blessed question.

Ian,

I will certainly have a lot of questions when I get to heaven but I believe it valuable and important to study deeply while here on earth to learn all that God has revealed for us. God has revealed a lot more than people are willing to accept and willing to learn by intense study. One of my treasured Bible verses:

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

We do not seek knowledge for egotism or criticism but because our intense love for our Savior motivates us to seek all that is available to learn from Him. He has given us a great promise, which is another of my treasured Bible verses:

John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth... He will show you things to come.

I believe with all my heart that "all truth" means "ALL Truth".

II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

__________

Are you interested in seeking all truth?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
