Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!  Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 6th day of the 4rd month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6018 Anno Mundi.

The Fall Sabbaths begin in 12 weeks with Trumpets on the evening of the 1st day of the 7th month (Friday, September 29th on the 2014, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset on Thursday, September 29th).

The Sacred month begins on the world day after lunar conjunction and the sacred year begins with the Spring Passover Rule dates my research and others have identified for determining the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is the same this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is one day early in the fall.

The LinkedIn discussion on the E-ventists group continues about the Mark of the Beast. The discussion became very hot and centered on legalistic distinctions about Sunday Law vs anti-Sabbath Law. These are excerpts edited for focus and brevity.

Quentin,

You wrote: "Thank you for showing me how people can interpret plain language to mean something other than intended."

Glad to oblige. However, the "plain language" of both the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy is not that Sunday worship itself is the Mark of the Beast, but that it is the legal enforcement of Sunday worship, with the prohibition against Sabbath observance, which is the final test, the Mark of the Beast. Your own selected quotations on the subject confirm this.

Consider further: "Refraining from work on Sunday is not receiving the mark of the beast; and where this will advance the interests of the work, it should be done. We should not go out of our way to work on Sunday." Maranatha p. 177

Here is another: "No one has yet received the mark of the beast." Evangelism, p. 234 (1899)

And again: "Sundaykeeping is not yet the mark of the beast, and will not be until the decree goes forth causing men to worship this idol sabbath. The time will come when this day will be the test, but that time has not come yet." (MS 118, 1899). 7BC 977

You really must take seriously the plain distinction between merely worshiping on Sunday (or any other day of the week) and legislation enforcing Sunday worship, and banning Sabbath observance.

Yes, I do take the plain distinction clearly. I never said, nor did I intend to imply the following:

one: that at present all forms of Sunday worship are the mark of the beast,

two: that refraining from work on Sunday is the mark of the beast,

three: that anyone at present has received the mark of the beast,

four: that there is no distinction between non Sabbath worship and banning Sabbath observance.

If I find I am in this type of discussion in the future, I'll make sure to include those caveats before beginning the discourse to avoid confusion or misinterpretations of points being made.

Thank you for helping to improve how I communicate with others.

Reading all this talk about the MOTB provokes some underlying questions. Is a lost person's actions or beliefs any different before and after they receive the MOTB? Is the final punishment (such as described in Revelation 14:10-11) any different for the lost person, if they die with or without the MOTB? Is a lost person's eternal destiny any different, if they die with or without the MOTB? I submit the answer to these three questions is NO.

This leads to the question, what is different with the MOTB?

I believe this has serious implications even before the time when the MOTB is received, for those expecting salvation, who, if they live, will be sealed (Revelation 9:4).

Matthew 7:21-24
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Frank --

Would you please define what you mean by "lost person"?

Frank T. Clark

Jim, Really? I suppose a rigorous definition would be helpful. I will see what I can define. This will certainly be subject to intensive examination and clarification. Let us hope we do not lose focus on the subject while debating a specific issue.

A lost person is one who will not receive eternal life. The final judgment has not happened yet but I believe we can clearly recognize there are actions and beliefs which define a lost person. We may not agree on what those actions and beliefs are but conceptually we know what it means. We may not even be certain ourselves what they are but I think the concept is clear. Actions specifically include rejecting additional truth. There is of course the opportunity for a person to change and grow until they die or are sealed.

I suggest this is one way to look at what is different with the MOTB. It is the opposite of the seal of God. It is a sealing to damnation. There is a certain specific final sealing of the living. There is a certain final issue of observing the weekly Sabbath that will be at the center but I hope we can see that the issue of salvation is important to us long before the sealing and that there are other issues beyond the final central issue.

Let me also be clear that I do not believe that only those who worship on the Sabbath will be saved. I believe there will come a time at the final sealing of the living where this will be the case.

The point of this discussion topic is to ask whether we make our current focus too narrow concerning the central issue of the MOTB. I believe we do.

I believed the discussion was getting off topic and tried to refocus. The topic was immediately taken further off-topic by a distracting detail and resulted in some hostility. I am not going to share any more of what was said.

Are you willing to focus on an issue that is not comfortable to you?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
