Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,
Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 7th day of the 3rd month of the Biblical Calendar in the estimated year 6021 Anno Mundi. Pentecost was observed yesterday and the Fall Sabbaths begin in 15 weeks with Trumpets Sabbath on the 1st day of the 7th month (Friday, September 22nd of the 2017, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset Thursday, September 21st). On God's Calendar the Biblical month begins on the global day after lunar conjunction. The Biblical year begins with God's New Year's Day (Passover) after the spring equinox (Spring Passover Rule). The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is the same this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is a day early. Many times over the years I have heard those who state or imply that the SDA denomination has become Babylon and we must leave the denomination as commanded by God. Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. I have mentioned this numerous times in my newsletters such as 2009-07-24 Babylon and 2012-02-10 Sigh and Cry. There is great danger in calling the Seventh-day Adventist denomination Babylon or denying it is the "Remnant Church". This problem dates back to at least 1893 and resulted in an entire series of articles by EGW in the Review and Herald beginning August 22, 1893 titled "The Remnant Church Not Babylon". There is also an entire chapter (7) on the subject in Selected Messages Book 2 titled "The Divine Credentials". The subject continues to rear its ugly head in a recent Facebook discussion. https://www.facebook.com/groups/121111054574867/permalink/ 1542836889068936 Kelly Nichole Freligh shared Solomon Rodriguez's post. Any thoughts on these quotes? I had no idea her opinions were so strong and made so public! Solomon Rodriguez: "For those who still believe in the GC SDA system pls. read this: That’s why EGW left the GC SDA Church in 1902: “The time is coming (which is now) when we shall be separated and scattered, and each one of us will have to stand without the privilege of communion with those of like precious faith.” ----CWE 42. -R& H 1:379. -T5:463. “ We must learn to stand alone = . . . the sooner we learn this the better!" EW 105,120-GC 142,395.- R& H Dec.18,1888. "We are not saved in GROUPS! ”The work of preparation is an individual work!” ---GC409.1884GC315. EGW LEFT THE GC SDA SYSTEM STATEMENT: "I have but very little confidence that the Lord is giving these men in positions of responsibility, spiritual eyesight and heavenly discernment. I am thrown into perplexity over their course; and I desire now to attend to my special work, TO HAVE NO PART IN ANY OF THEIR COUNCILS, AND TO ATTEND NO CAMP MEETINGS, NIGH OR AFAR OFF. My mind shall not be dragged into confusion by the tendency they manifest to work directly contrary to the light that God has given me. I AM DONE. I will preserve my God given intelligence. My voice has been heard in the different conferences, and at campmeetings. I MUST NOW MAKE A CHANGE.... I SHALL THEREFORE LEAVE, LEAVE THEM TO RECEIVE WORD FROM THE BIBLE,...THIS IS THE LIGHT GIVEN ME AND I SHALL NOT DEPART FROM IT.” EG White Letter W-186, 2. Dec. 1902 to Edson &Willy White Pg 4-5. -Complied by Anonymous Now the church is militant, now we are confronted with a world in midnight darkness, almost wholly given over to idolatry.THE REVIEW AND HERALD December 17, 1908 In the night season many things are passing before me. The Scriptures, full of grace and richness, are presented before me. The word of the Lord to me is: “Look on these things, and meditate on them. You may claim the rich grace of truth, which nourishes the soul. Have naught to do with controversy and dissension and strife, which bring darkness and discouragement to your soul. Truth is clear, pure, savory. Avoid all council meetings where there is dissension, and where men will neither credit My words and obey My lessons nor heed your counsel. Speak the truth in faith and love, leaving the result with God. The work is not yours, but the Lord’s. In all your communications, speak as one to whom the Lord has spoken. He is your authority, and He will give you His sustaining grace.” My sons, I would have you firmly united as brothers in the flesh and as brothers in Christian fellowship. I have a work to do, and I am now making decisions. I must remain away from conference meetings. I must not attend camp meetings. The spirit of drawing apart, as the result of judging one another, has become so common, and the churches are becoming so leavened with this spirit, that I have no desire to attend these meetings. After returning from them, it is often weeks before I am able to take up my neglected work. Because those in positions of responsibility have for years left the Southern field unworked, notwithstanding the most decided testimonies urging them to take up this work; because they continue to neglect this field and use every manner of device in trying to uproot the confidence of the people in those who have done the hardest and most self-sacrificing work in the South, I have but very little confidence that the Lord is giving these men in positions of responsibility spiritual eyesight and heavenly discernment. I am thrown into perplexity over their course; and I desire now to attend to my special work, to have no part in any of their councils, and to attend no camp-meetings, nigh nor afar off. MANUSCRIPT RELEASES, VOL. 17 [NOS. 1236-1300], PAGE 64 Frank T. Clark: These comments are being used out of the context of what she said and the events of the time. She never left the GC SDA, though there were times she was distressed at varous actions. There was a clear message of needed changes in the GC given in 1901, which were put in place and working well by 1903. Of course, we are never saved as "SDA" but by our own personal relationship with God. We must learn to stand alone but that does not mean we are instructed to leave the GC. Whatever its problems and failures, for there are many, it is the primary organization God is working through. Kelly Nichole Freligh: While she may not have officially left the conference, (I don't actually know if she did or not), she definitely stated that she wasn't going to have anything to do with the general conference meetings. Then, in 1908, she said the church was in darkness and idolatry. Can you explain what she meant by this? Frank T. Clark: Please provide an actual quote to discuss. She did attend at the very least the general conference of 1901 and 1903 at the time period in question and participated in leading out in the meetings. Based on actual documentation. Ungrounded conjecture is misleading and false. Kelly Nichole Freligh: I was referring to the same quotes in the post...just restated things that she said in those quotes. Frank T. Clark: Lest anyone be confused by the misleading statements let me clarify. "Now the church is militant, now we are confronted with a world in midnight darkness, almost wholly given over to idolatry." {RH, December 17, 1908 par. 7} {MH 504.5} This quote says the world is in darkness, not the church. Careful reading is required to see what it says, not what we want it to say. _____ God's people and their organizations have always had errors mixed in with the truth. As God has stated, the wheat is mixed with the tares. We are never told to leave God's people because of some errors. No matter how vexing. I have seen many people and groups go astray and follow increasingly erroneous ideas when they separate from holy convocation with the remnant people. Short time periods of non-association may be needed at various times to focus on studying truth (or sickness and disability) but we are never to completely draw away. So many people make wild unfounded statements to get attention and support their own agenda. This is not God's agenda. Do you spread truth or misleading and false ungrounded conjecture? I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
