Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,
Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is day 20 of month 5 of the Biblical Calendar in the estimated year 6022 Anno Mundi. The Fall Sabbaths begin with Trumpets in five weeks and four days, day 1 of month 7 (Tuesday, September 11 of the 2018, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset Monday, September 10). On God's Calendar the Biblical month begins on the global day after lunar conjunction. The Biblical year begins with God's New Year's Day (Passover) after the spring equinox (Spring Passover Rule). The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is a month late in the Gregorian 2018 year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar will be two days early in spring and one day early in fall. In Sabbath School last week I heard the tired, trite, and Laodicean saying repeated that I have heard many times. God wrote the Ten Commandments on stone! This is supposed to mean that there is something special about being carved in stone. I commented to my wife after Sabbath School (I tend to avoid disrupting Sabbath School with controversial comments.) that it is sad that the SDA denomination places so much emphasis on limiting themselves to obeying only what is carved in stone. They are saying that the voice of God commanding additional statutes means nothing to them. One of the most direct commands of God is found in one of my favorite verses. Malachi 4:4 Remember the Law of Moses, my servant, which I commanded to him at Horeb for all Israel, statutes and judgments. Even the prophet that the SDA denomination formerly respected says it very clearly. In consequence of continual transgression, the moral law was repeated in awful grandeur from Sinai. Christ gave to Moses religious precepts which were to govern the everyday life. These statutes were explicitly given to guard the ten commandments. They were not shadowy types to pass away with the death of Christ. They were to be binding upon man in every age as long as time should last. These commands were enforced by the power of the moral law, and they clearly and definitely explained that law. {RH, May 6, 1875 par. 10} {1BC 1104.6} {ST April 15, 1875} Ellen G. White, "The Law of God", Review and Herald, May 6, 1875 The Laodicean heart of the SDA denomination is quickly growing as cold as the stone they claim to follow. The Bible states it clearly. Ellen states it clearly. Even Paul states it clearly. Act 24:14 (ERV) "... I believe everything that is taught in the Law of Moses ..." Was Paul lying? Did Paul teach anything different from what he believed? Act 25:8 (ERV) Defending himself, Paul said, Neither against the Law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I offended in anything. Was Paul lying? Act 28:17 (ERV) Three days later Paul sent for some of the most important Jews. When they came together, he said, "My brothers, I have done nothing against our people or against the customs of our fathers. But I was arrested in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans. Was Paul lying? Contradicting these plain statements of Paul, many preachers and teachers of the SDA denomination twist Paul's words in Colossians 2:14 to make it sound like Paul taught that part of the eternal Law of God was nailed to the cross. When you read in context, it is clear to me and many other preachers and teachers of the SDA denomination that Paul is saying the charges of sin against us are nailed to the cross. Col 2:13-14 (ERV) You were spiritually dead because of your sins and because you were not free from the power of your sinful self. But God gave you new life together with Christ. He forgave all our sins. Because we broke God's laws, we owed a debt--a debt that listed all the rules we failed to follow. But God forgave us of that debt. He took it away and nailed it to the cross. Do you believe more in what is carved in stone than what God has said? I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
