2300 Day Prophecy

The 2300 day time prophecies of Daniel.

2300 days

457 BC The decree to rebuild Jerusalem, spoken of by the angel to Daniel, was given in 457 B.C. (see Daniel 9:25; Ezra 7:11, 12. Thus, the starting date for the 2300-day prophecy is fixed. A day equals a year in Bible prophecy (see Ezekiel 4:6; Numbers 14:34; Mark 1:15; Matthew 18:21, 22; Luke 13:1-7). The 2300 days of Daniel 8:14 are equal to 2300 literal years.

408 BC The rebuilding of Jerusalem was completed by 408 B.C., built "even in troublous times" (Daniel 9:25). Just as Daniel's prophecy stated, the Jews labored against much opposition to restore their beloved city (see Nehemiah chapters 4- 7).

27 AD The Saviour was baptized in 27 A.D., exactly 483 years after the commandment to restore Jerusalem. Messiah in Hebrew and Christ in Greek are the same as anointed in the English. The Messiah was anointed for His work as our Savior by the Holy Spirit at His baptism (see Matthew 3:16; Luke 3:21-23; Acts 10:38).

31 AD In the middle of the seventieth week, The Messiah brought an end to the sacrificial service by dying for the salvation of the world (see Daniel 9:26, 27). The Saviour spoke of His sacrificial death as occurring at a set or fixed time, indicating that He would die at the time foretold in Bible prophecy (see Matthew 26:18; Luke 12:56; 21:8; Romans 5:6; 1 Timothy 2:6; Galatians 4:4).

34 AD The stoning of Stephen, the first Christian martyr, marked the close of Israel's seventyweek (490 year) probation (see Daniel 9:24; Acts 7:54-60). After the stoning of Stephen the gospel was taken to the gentiles, and the Christian church was born. Judaism as a nation gives way to spiritual Israel, the church (see Romans 2:28, 29; Galatians 3:26-29).

508 AD The papal church gains ecclesiastical authority and usurps the priestly ministry of Messiah by setting itself up in a mediatory position between God and the people (see Daniel 8:9- 11; 1 Timothy 2:5, 6; Hebrews 4:15, 16; 7:24, 25; 8:1-5; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4; Mark 2:7). The darkness would begin to break after 1335 years, in 1843, as the truth of the sanctuary would begin to emerge through a worldwide Bible study revival (see Daniel 12:11-13; Revelation 10).

538 AD The papal church gains civil-political power and begins to persecute the saints of God (see Daniel 7:21, 25; 12:7; Revelation 12:6, 14; 13:5, 7). The political reign of the church would last for 1260 years, from 538 A.D. to 1798.

1798 AD The papal church loses its civil-political power over the masses, receiving the "deadly wound" foretold in prophecy (see Daniel 11:40; Revelation 13:3). The long, dark reign of papal authority was finally broken as Napoleon's general, Berthier, marched into Rome and took the pope captive. 1798 marks the beginning of "the time of the end" (see Daniel 12:4, 9).

1844 AD The glorious truth of Messiah's high priestly mediation in the heavenly sanctuary begins to be restored to the people through the study of Daniel's prophecies (see Daniel 8:14; 12:4). The study of Daniel's prophecies would be followed by a bitter disappointment, which in turn would be followed by a restoration of Biblical truth concerning the sanctuary and the mediation of the Messiah as our Savior (see Revelation chapters 10, 11).

Notes:

(1) For the age of Noah at the birth of Shem, this requires a calculation of: 600+2-100=502. This is necessary because Genesis 5:32 lists all three of Noah's children for the same year of Noah - 500 years old. One can, however, take the age of Noah at the flood (Genesis 7:6), plus the two years after the flood when Shem's son was born (Genesis 11:10), minus the age of Shem at his son's birth (Genesis 11:10), to obtain Noah's true age when Shem was born.

(2) For the age of Terah at the birth of Abram, this requires a calculation of: 205-75=130. This is necessary because Genesis 11:26 lists all three of Terah's children for the same year of Terah - 70 years old. One can, however (presuming that Abram left Haran upon the death of his father), take the age of Terah at his death (Genesis 11:32), minus the age of Abram when his father died (Genesis 12:4), to obtain Terah's true age when Abram was born.

(3) For the age of Jacob at the birth of Joseph, this requires a calculation of: 130-2-7-30-17=74. This is necessary because the Bible does not explicitly tell the age of Jacob when Joseph was born. One can, however, take the age of Jacob when he stood before pharaoh (Genesis 47:9), minus the number of years of famine before Jacob came to Egypt (Genesis 45:6), minus the number of years of plenty (Genesis 41:53), minus the number of years before Joseph interpreted the pharaoh's dream (Genesis 41:46), minus the number of years before which God first called Joseph by giving him a dream of his future (Genesis 37:2), to obtain Jacob's true age when Joseph was born.

Alternate observation: The calculation should be 130-2-7-13-17=91 or 130-2-7-30=91. This is because in Genesis 41:46, Joseph was 30 years old and had spent 13 years in Egypt.

* A.H. stands for "Anno Homini" or, "In the year of Man" - which is an equivalent naming convention as is used for A.D., which stands for "Anno Domini" or, "In the year of Our Lord."

§ Rather than the Father's Birth Year, these two numbers represent the year these events occurred.
