Dear Brothers and Sisters in
IAUA
(ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,
I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord. It has been over a month since my last newsletter and I am deeply remorseful. Much of my time has been spent preparing the start of my Spanish website. I estimate that I spent over 2000 hours creating my website but it still surprised me how much work it was to create even the start of a Spanish version. _____ When Danny Shelton announced the theme for this year it made my hair stand on end and my skin tingle. "Year of Victory". I am sure he had no intention of meaning it the way I took it. Oh how I wish that this might truly be the year of victory for us all. _____ Continuing in my study of disputes which have occurred over the statutes I decided to scrutinize the subject of the two covenants. There is a lot of smoke and little clarity about this subject. The saying is, where there is smoke there is fire. This is indeed a hot topic which is burning in the middle of the final events of the great controversy. Many churches used to nail the Ten Commandments to the cross as being a part of the old covenant. They would say that the new covenant is based only on faith. The church of the Three Angels Message rightly denies that the Ten Commandments are nailed to the cross but creates a curious division between the the Ten Commandments and the Law of Moses. Sadly, many say that the entire Law of Moses is nailed to the cross. There is a curious contradiction in this teaching. The SDA church upholds some statutes of the "law of Moses". Tithing and prohibitions against unclean flesh are not in the Ten Commandments. Many teachings of the pioneers of the church were statutes. The church has backslidden a great deal from the doctrines held by the pioneers. While some church teachings (Sanctuary, Investigative Judgment) are unique to the SDA church, I maintain that this is not what makes the SDA church unique. There is a difference between teachings and doctrine. Other churches may have similar teachings. Other churches hold the Seventh-day Sabbath as a doctrine. It is the doctrine of statute keeping, no matter how haphazard it is taught, which is unique to the SDA church. This is truly the Elijah Message. The only change to the new covenant was already described in the Old Testament. This is not a New Testament teaching. There was (Dare I say it?) nothing new that was introduced in the New Testament. The Messiah was the author of all that is in the Old Testament and only repeated His teaching with special focus for the errors of His time on earth.
Jeremiah 31
This was recognized in the New Testament.
Hebrews 8
The new covenant is written in the heart by the fulfillment of the sacrifice foreshadowed for four millenia. The perfect demonstration of perfect love binds the truth in the hearts of those who accept Him.
John 12:32
So what really ended at the cross? The purpose of the sacrifices was to point to the sacrifice of the Messiah. The Bible is quite clear that the sacrifices ended at the cross.
Daniel 9:27
The sacrifices were the primary purpose of the temple. The central temple on earth ended at the cross.
John 4:21
The sacrifices and the temple were the primary purpose of the Levites. The Levite priesthood ended at the cross. The Messiah is now our High Priest. The Messiah continues the function of the High Priest in the heavenly sanctuary.
Hebrews 4:14
We are all serving as priests. Again I remind you that this is not a New Testament teaching.
Exodus 19:6
I Peter 2:9
There were no other laws nailed to the cross.
Matthew 5
Those who say that Paul nailed any law to the cross make him worse than the anti-christ who only changed the laws. Refuting this "doctrine of devils" is a major task which has been admirably performed already. Refer to the "New Discoveries from Old Manuscripts" video series by John VanDenBurgh. www.BibleExplorations.com The yearly Sabbaths are the critical doctrine of the statutes just as the weekly Sabbath is the critical doctrine of the Ten Commandments. This doctrine will soon cause the shaking and sealing of the church. Will you be shaken... or sealed? May we strive for peace and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (Ee-uh-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
