(ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,
Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord. This is the 6th day of the 4th month of God's Sacred Calendar. It is eleven weeks and five days until the beginning of the Fall Sacred Holydays starting with the evening of the 1st day of the 7th month which is Trumpets Sabbath (Thursday, September 13 on the 2007 Gregorian calendar). This week I will continue on the subject of the "Time of Trouble". I will also continue to concentrate on the commonly held idea that the duration of this time period will be 3.5 years. Last week I discussed a scriptural interpretation of Daniel 12 originally suggested by Kenneth Cox. This week I will present a scriptural interpretation of Revelation 11 supported by quotations from the Spirit of Prophecy originally presented by John VanDenburgh. _____

"Great precautions were taken to make everything in San Francisco secure against earthquakes, floods, and fires, yet today that great city is lying a mass of debris. Where is there one who, seeing this, can fail to reason from cause to effect? {21MR 90.5} "A few days ago we passed by the great costly Stanford University. Many of its buildings now lie in ruins. {21MR 91.1} "Yesterday, on our way home from Mountain View, we stopped to take a view of the destruction in San Francisco. Notwithstanding some of the buildings were of the most stable kind and were supposed to be proof against disaster, the city is a ruin. In some places the buildings are sunken into the ground. This city presents a most powerful picture of the inefficiency of human devising and human skill to withstand the carrying out of the Lord's mandate. {21MR 91.2} "For our people to begin commercial enterprises in such a place will be to soothe the fears of those to whom they will come with the Bible message of truth. {21MR 91.3} "Let all who would understand the meaning of these things read the eleventh chapter of Revelation. Read every verse, and learn the things that are yet to take place in the cities. Read also the scenes portrayed in the eighteenth chapter of the same book. {21MR 91.4}" The first point is that she says every verse of Revelation 11 is yet to take place in the cities. Verse 2: “But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months Verse 3: “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy an thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.” Verse 11: “And after three days and a half the Spirit of life from God entered into them. And they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.” Ellen White first applies some of the above verses to the time of the French Revolution, but made the comment above years later in 1906. This is an example of multiple fulfillments of the same prophecy. The second point is to notice that she ties this chapter to Revelation 18 which according to most folk has not yet come to pass. That is the chapter that talks of the angel that brings glory to the earth prior to the 7 last plagues. Some more quotations about the repeating of prophetic events.

"In history and prophecy the Word of God portrays the long continued conflict between truth and error. That conflict is yet in progress. Those things which have been, will be repeated. Old controversies will be revived, and new theories will be continually arising. But God's people, who in their belief and fulfillment of prophecy have acted a part in the proclamation of the first, second, and third angels' messages, know where they stand. They have an experience that is more precious than fine gold. They are to stand firm as a rock, holding the beginning of their confidence steadfast unto the end. {2SM 109.2}"

"We are standing on the threshold of great and solemn events. Many of the prophecies are about to be fulfilled in quick succession. Every element of power is about to be set to work. Past history will be repeated; old controversies will arouse to new life, and peril will beset God's people on every side. Intensity is taking possession of the human family. It is permeating everything upon the earth. And for what?--Games, plays, amusements; men are rushing and crowding, and contending for the mastery. That which is common and perishable is absorbing their attention, so that things of eternal interest are scarcely thought of. Human beings, possessed with energy, zeal, and perseverance, will place all their God-given powers in co-operation with Satan's despotism to make void the law of God. Impostors of every caste and grade will claim to be worthy and true, and there will be a magnifying of the common and impure against the true and the holy. Thus the spurious is accepted, and the true standard of holiness is discarded, as the word of God was discarded by Adam and Eve for the lie of Satan. {RH, August 31, 1897 par. 7}" In the primary application of prophecy the principle of a day for a year is universal. In secondary or repeated fulfillments this may not always be the case.

"In the last days Satan will appear as an angel of light, with great power and heavenly glory, and claim to be the Lord of the whole earth. He will declare that the Sabbath has been changed from the seventh to the first day of the week; and as lord of the first day of the week he will present this spurious sabbath as a test of loyalty to him. Then will take place the final fulfillment of the Revelator's prophecy. [Rev. 13:4-18, quoted.] {19MR 282.1}"

Notice that the 42 months happens as Satan is on earth claiming to be Christ. Also note that this takes place when ALL that dwell upon the earth shall worship him whose names are not in the book of life. In the past only Europe was horn swaggled by the beast. But in this case the 42 month supremacy effects the entire world. _____ I believe that we can all benefit from considering carefully thought out and clearly presented interpretations which may differ from our own understandings. I pray that we may all continue to strive for love, peace and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-uh-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God. Shabbat Shalom,
