Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-uh-oo-uh) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray that this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord. This is the 27th day of the 1st month of God's Sacred Calendar in the year 6012 Anno Mundi.

It is five weeks and two days until the evening of the 6th day of the 3rd month which is Pentecost Sabbath (Sunset on Sunday, May 11 on the 2008 Gregorian calendar). I pray that this may be the time for the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit in power and truth on the 144,000 to prepare the world for the final judgment.

I have been doing a lot of prophetic study with an individual who has some definite detailed interpretations and applications of prophecies. These prophecies are given a near future application just before the Second Coming. Some of these prophecies are usually interpreted as having already been fulfilled in the past. I do believe that many prophecies have multiple applications and some are past and future.

I do have some concerns about some of these prophetic messages. The theological message is usually appropriate and useful. The prophetic interpretation seems sound. The emphasis and direction of these studies continues to bother me.

I am going to share with you an email I wrote on this subject expressing these concerns and my conclusions.

_____

I have been doing a lot of praying and reading God's Word and thinking (meditating? I am not sure which is the more accurate word or if there is any significant difference) about the emphasis for the things you have been saying.

I am concerned, for the way God is leading me, that there needs to be a balance between emphasis on prophecy and emphasis on God's Law. God's Law is more important than prophecy. It is absolutely true that prophecy cannot be abandoned or separated from God's Law.

I am also concerned about the use of prophecy as a guide to future plans and actions especially in reference to current attitudes and behaviour. The primary purpose of prophecy is to strengthen faith as we see how God is in control and especially to reach out to those who do not have faith and trust in God. The next important purpose is to guide us as things are happening.

It is an important purpose of prophecy to prepare us for the future. This is especially true in these last days. This is also important for the high level issues. It is less important but still appropriate to dig into the details of what prophecy may be saying about future events.

I believe that I need to be careful with prophetic interpretation of future events because these can be susceptible to error and deception. I am even less comfortable with using these interpretations as a guide to current attitudes and actions. These things in particular are dangerously inappropriate for me to use and encourage as any type of a teaching.

The one or two web pages where I do any significant amount of that type of thing leave me very uncertain about their appropriateness. I pray constantly for God's guidance in these issues.

_____

I believe that sometimes it can happen that prophecy gets over emphasized. I have seen this occur particularly in relation to groups which form around a very intelligent charismatic individual. I notice that this happened with mixed results in the life of people such as David Koresh, Jim Jones, Herbert Armstrong, and Victor T. Houteff.

I believe it is important to keep our minds open to the leading of God in understanding new light from the Bible. When we open ourselves to new concepts there is a danger and a problem of being overwhelmed with all the different and radical ideas out there. It is very hard to separate the true from the false and the useful from the misleading.

Only by careful study of the Bible, prayer, and the leading of the Holy Spirit can we succeed. We can be encouraged by knowing that God tells us that we need to do this study and that we can succeed with His leading and help.

Is your mind made up and your ideas closed to new Biblical concepts which seem strange to you? Do you continue to carefully evaluate the ideas you have embraced to be certain that they align with God's Word?

I pray that we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-uh-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.

Shabbat Shalom,
