Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Home / Archives

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-uh-oo-uh) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray that this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord. This is the 27th day of the 6th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the year 6012 Anno Mundi.

It is two days until The Fall Sabbaths begin with the evening of the 1st day of the 7th month which is Trumpets Sabbath (September 1, beginning sunset on Sunday, August 31 on the 2008 Gregorian calendar).

It is one week and four days until the evening of the 10th day of the 7th month which is Atonement Sabbath (September 10, beginning sunset on Tuesday, September 9 on the 2008 Gregorian calendar).

It is two weeks and two days until the evening of the 15th day of the 7th month which is Tabernacles Sabbath (September 15, beginning sunset on Sunday, September 14 on the 2008 Gregorian calendar).

It is three weeks and two days until the evening of the 22nd day of the 7th month which is Last Day Sabbath (September 22, beginning sunset on Sunday, September 21 on the 2008 Gregorian calendar).

It is interesting to note that the days of the seventh month match the days of September this year. I assume you are aware that "Septem" is Latin for seven. The earliest Roman calendars actually used the same months of the year, starting in spring, as God's Sacred Calendar. Therefore, this year, September 1 is Trumpets Sabbath, September 10 is Atonement Sabbath, September 15 is Tabernacles Sabbath, and September 22 is Last Day Sabbath. A nice "coincidence" that probably happens every thirty years or so.

This "coincidence" only happens for those who accept the record of Jewish history and the tradition faithfully preserved by the Catholic Church that Passover is the first full moon on or after the equinox. After clearly describing when Passover occurs they change the observed day to the following Sunday and call it Easter. Isn't it interesting that they preserved this even though they corrupted so many other things?

Others prefer to follow the determination of William Miller and his associates that the sacred calendar begins with the new moon following the spring equinox rather than the full moon. Ellen White never spoke against this choice which is to be expected since no Christian or Jew at that time is known to have followed the determination of God's Sacred Calendar completely according to the actual movements of the Sun and Moon as God commanded.

The Catholic Church also preserved the weekly cycle even though again they changed which day they reverence. There is never an intelligent argument about which day of the week is the Sabbath when you accept that it is the seventh day and not the first. These things were primarily preserved by the power of the Catholic Church.

Isn't amazing how God arranged that the Church of the Great Apostasy nevertheless preserved these things faithfully. Ironic isn't it?

I received an email from a person who had recently received copies of my book. They made some observations that I thought would be valuable to share.

_____

Dear Brother,

I find your book, Preparing for the End of Time, to be well written and informative for those wishing to have a closer walk with our Savior. I have passed out the books that were extra to SDA's that I know will read them.

I have often thought on the subject of the "tzitzit" and researched it out thoroughly. I find no reason to go against the statement you gave from the Health Reformer that is specifically written for "Words to Christian mothers" should be applied for us concerning a people who should have the "Law written in our hearts." (Jer 31:31-34) When I read, "The people of God are not now required to have a special mark placed upon their garments," means exactly that. If I am misinformed on this I would like to be corrected. I do respect anyone for their convictions on any subject! "In the New Testament we are often referred to ancient Israel for examples" would be an oxymoron to say "not do" and then the next sentence say "to do." Sister White is giving direction on how to dress to cover the flesh, and not how to decorate the dress. Read the whole article.

I do believe that Yashua wore the fringe on His garment as was standard for His time as being a son of the law, but if the promise was given to have the law written in our hearts is fulfilled in us we will show by our Christian comportment that we are abiding by the law because we love our Savior and the Heavenly Father.

I awoke at 2 AM and this seemed to be the one thing that I feel would keep SDA's from accepting all the good you have written in your book. I am not offended by this tradition that I see so often, as I feel it can be done if one feels it is a safeguard upon their soul. After all our prophetess didn't say that it was hypocrisy if one did do it. The Holy Spirit is working upon the hearts of all people and that will be the witness for, or against, them. Without that spirit there can be nothing written in the heart and it would be foolish to think otherwise. I know this does not apply to you.

I write this to you brother, because I see the opposite in the HR quote than you do. If EGW is saying to wear the tzitzit I believe the wording would have been more explicit.

I am not opposed to anything Jewish. In fact, I have often remarked that "I wish I had been born Jewish so that I would better understand the culture."

I was happy to see that you took the other items of clothing that are popular by practicing Messianic Jews and showed they were not even used in Christ' days. I see so many having Yashua wearing those items in pictures that it would be a joke if I knew that they "know better." I do understand that many of the Messianic Jews and Christians have no idea where this comes from other than the Rabbinic's teach it, which is oral law.

I let the book read for itself; there is much good that can come of it from our people if they will read the message you have in it. I realize there are few that will read anything if it has to do with keeping the statutes and judgments. I am glad that I did!

Thank you so much for allowing me to have the information in your book. It was a tune up for me that I appreciate. It is seldom that I get any stimulation by reading an Adventist thought other than the rote I hear over and over. Indeed we need the Elijah message today.

I responded:

Brother ___,

Thank you very much for your comments. I considered them very carefully and reread the relevant sections in my book to see if changes needed to be made to correct the impressions you observed.

I apologize that I gave the impression that I thought Ellen was saying we should wear the tassels. I included the quote to show that I was aware of it because it is used by many Adventists to speak against the tassels. I acknowledge that is what she said though as I stated there seems to be a "curious contradiction" in what she said.

I have never and will never tell anyone that they should wear the tassels. Neither do I tell anyone that they should rest or convene on the Sabbath or any of God's Holy Days. I do describe them as commands of God. It is a prompting of the Holy Spirit when a person recognizes, obeys, and practices God's commands. I do feel free to testify when I recognize a command of God and I will obey.

I apologize that I gave the impression that I was opposed to anything Jewish. I do make a clear distinction about what I believe is a command of God and what is a Jewish tradition. I do acknowledge that I do not practice nor do I teach that anyone should practice Jewish traditions. I have no disagreement with anyone who finds value and benefit from the practice of Jewish traditions. I have observed that sometimes, some people emphasize the understanding and practice of Jewish traditions more than the understanding and observance of God's Law. I find this contradictory and disturbing.

I must speak the truth I observe with as much tact and love as God has put in my heart whether or not it will cause some to reject what I say. I pray often that God will help me to practice the love that He demonstrates and say the right words to reach out to others.

If you have any specific recommendations on how I might need to change the wording in my book to give a more accurate impression, I would certainly appreciate them. We could possibly discuss them on a Sabbath afternoon. I usually spend almost all Sabbath afternoon in Bible discussions with my wife, my mother, my brothers, my son, and whoever else I can get a chance with which to talk.

Is your heart filled with love, graciousness, and understanding for others in spite of the frequent communication difficulties?

I pray that we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-uh-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
