Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Home / Archives

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-uh-oo-uh) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord. This is the 10th day of the 8th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the year 6012 Anno Mundi.

It is about seven months until the Spring Sabbaths begin with the evening of the 15th day of the 1st month which is the first Unleavened Bread Sabbath (Saturday, April 11 on the 2009 Gregorian calendar, beginning sunset on Friday, April 10).

The Spring Sabbaths next year fall on the same days of the week they did in the year our Saviour was crucified. Passover will be the same day of the week its symbolism was fulfilled when our Saviour was crucified. Our Saviour rested in the tomb fulfilling the symbolism of the yearly Sabbath which was also a weekly Sabbath. Wave Sheaf will be on the first day of the week as it was in the year it was fulfilled and our Saviour was resurrected.

The fulfillment of the yearly Sabbath symbols is a clear testimony from the Bible our Saviour was indeed sacrificed on Friday (Passover) and rose on Sunday (Wave Sheaf) which refutes the controversy and confusion of those who suggest His crucifixion was on Thursday or Wednesday.

I am continuing this week with the questions from a new newsletter reader. It may help you to understand his background. He is a Seventh-day Adventist who was separated from the church when he began to believe and practice the Law of Moses as God tells us in Malachi 4:4 to remember. He has since been worshipping with Messianics while studying and practicing Jewish tradition with the guidance of a Rabbi. He recognizes the authority of the Sanhedrin to set the determination for God's Sacred Calendar.

The question becomes one, Frank, of who it was (or is) that is/was charged with the authority to make those observations? This might well lead to some understanding of who can be, or should be, trusted or charged with that responsibility today. Certainly not some that I see putting themselves up for this task.

As to the time allotted (above the 365 days) for each year, God's agriculturally based calendar takes care of this beautifully.

Yes, God did place the lights in the firmament and for the reasons you quote. But did he place you in the place where He was when this was done. Did he place you where the barley comes to maturity at the same time it did when He set up the Sanhedrin to do the observing. Does the Karite qualify for some reasons unknown to many of us, to replace the Sanhedrin with this responsibility? What does one do when there is a cloud cover and the new moon cannot be sighted? Questions! Questions! Questions!

Maybe I am not suited for this group as I have also prayed, studied, and found answers - - however, your guidance and mine often do not seem to coincide very well. What is the problem? What can be deduced from these differences in what has been or is being learned? Is defending a stance in order. Is offering websites the answer? Can it be that we should go to a website and come up with lunar Shabbats and use that as a standard. The moon is one of the lights you speak of! Just a discussion point. There is much garbage on the internet - - garbage that leads many astray. The Bereans are ones that I choose to attempt to emulate. I choose to let Scripture interpret itself insofar as possible. When that fails, I attempt patience in keeping alert to the answers when they are forthcoming.

What leadership did Yeshua follow when He observed the festivals. In those days there were no Karites? There was, however, a Sanhedrin.

Dear Brother XXX,

I will do my best to answer your questions. This is my understanding which has resulted from my study of the Bible and other sources. I do not expect anyone to accept what I say without careful study for themselves to seek for truth. I offer my witness of my understanding to assist others in their search for truth. I believe God wants us to know the truth and provides what is needed for an understanding to those who search diligently for understanding.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

"The question becomes one, Frank, of who it was (or is) that is/was charged with the authority to make those observations? This might well lead to some understanding of who can be, or should be, trusted or charged with that responsibility today. Certainly not some that I see putting themselves up for this task."

I do not see in the Bible that God appoints anyone to make observations and determinations and blindly impose them on someone else. I believe we are all responsible to study and understand the determinations for ourselves. I believe anyone who observes and determines must also teach and not try to make it a hidden secret. Secrets are not the way of God who openly and honestly reveals His mysteries to those who seek the truth. When someone openly demonstrates an understanding which agrees with my study I can rely on their guidance if it is not practical to continually make a determination for myself. I must never follow someone blindly and I must always be able to verify what they are saying.

Matthew 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Matthew 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

"Yes, God did place the lights in the firmament and for the reasons you quote. But did he place you in the place where He was when this was done."

I believe in determinations using Jerusalem as the reference point. I provide my witnesses for this practice in my book.

"Did he place you where the barley comes to maturity at the same time it did when He set up the Sanhedrin to do the observing. Does the Karite qualify for some reasons unknown to many of us, to replace the Sanhedrin with this responsibility?"

As I have already stated, I see no place for the barley as a sign and I have never stated a belief in following a Karaite. The simplest study of determination shows me the Sanhedrin plan after about the first century does not follow God's design. Therefore I do not follow it. I have found valuable witness in part of what tradition records about the Sanhedrin practice but I discard what does not match the Bible primarily and secondarily the study of other sources of witness.

"What does one do when there is a cloud cover and the new moon cannot be sighted? Questions! Questions! Questions!"

A formula can be used as a supplement to observation as long as the formula is based on observation and can be periodically validated by observation. Questions have answers which will come as God leads. God has promised He will lead us into all truth.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

"Maybe I am not suited for this group as I have also prayed, studied, and found answers - - however, your guidance and mine often do not seem to coincide very well. What is the problem? What can be deduced from these differences in what has been or is being learned?"

We are all studying to learn and understand. If you disagree and reject my witness of understanding then why do you keep asking questions? I am open to consider your witness of understanding. Do you think your questions are an open and honest witness to your understanding? It seems all you have to offer is what Jewish tradition says. I am primarily interested in what the Bible says and secondly the witness of all who try to follow the will of God. I will not limit myself to one narrow viewpoint whether it is Jewish, Catholic, or Adventist. I seek the will of God wherever it is found.

Since there is a large divide in our understanding of this subject I see no point in explaining a detailed understanding to all of your questions. It seems you are not really interested in the answers but only in your questions.

There has been much more discussion but I will spare you from the bulk of it. The discussion becomes too argumentative and confrontational to be of general value. I am withdrawing from being drawn further into the argument.

I hope you find value in being exposed to the various different ideas which exist. There is much controversy when you step out of the safe box of allowing the church to define your beliefs. It becomes very important and difficult to separate the truth from the error. A careful study of II Timothy 2 and 3 is very valuable.

II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Are you studying and researching all sources yourself to grow in the truth or do you rely on the teachings of a limited group of people for truth?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-uh-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
