Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-uh-oo-uh) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord. This is the 3rd day of the 4th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6013 Anno Mundi.

It is about three months until the Fall Sabbaths begin with Trumpets Sabbath on the evening of the 1st day of the 7th month (Sunday, September 20 on the 2009 Gregorian calendar, beginning sunset on Saturday, September 19).

This year, those who follow the Millerite Calendar determination agree with my understanding of the Gregorian Calendar dates for God's Sacred Calendar. The dates on the apostate Jewish Calendar are two days earlier in the spring and one day early in the fall.

_____

I am torn this week between discussing the most recent outbreak of "Apocalyptic Fever" or addressing some other topics that have impressed me this week. I made this comment in a recent apocalyptic email chain I shared with some this week.

Remember! Panic is not helpful. Ignorance is not wise. Denial does not change the future. Rumours contain elements of falsehood and truth. Speculation is to be considered with caution. Spiritual preparation is the most important priority. Trust in God. The end is coming soon...

Nevertheless, in this newsletter I am going to stick with a basic message of spiritual preparation. I was cheered and encouraged by a recent news article.

"Responding to ongoing discussions in the church, the president of the Seventh-day Adventist world church urged Adventists to look to scripture as the validity of their faith as it relates to origins."

The entire statement can be found at:

You may smile and sigh wistfully at the preceding paragraph for the deeper truth it contains. There are many other topics of ongoing discussion, or sometimes suppression, in the church where you would wish, "the president of the Seventh-day Adventist world church urged Adventists to look to scripture as the validity of their faith..." But, I digress slightly...

The affirmation of the Biblical record of Creation is an important beginning step in the church to return to an unapologetic, uncompromising, unadulterated affirmation of all Biblical truth. Prophecy tells us a complete return will occur by the work of a great prophet.

Malachi 4:5-6
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
6 And he shall turn (restore) the heart of the (patriarch) fathers to the children (of Israel), and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Ellen White did a great work but she repeatedly said there was more.

"We must not for a moment think that there is no more light, no more truth to be given us. We are in danger of becoming careless, by our indifference losing the sanctifying power of truth, and composing ourselves with the thought, "I am rich and increased with goods, and have need of nothing." [REV. 3:17.] While we must hold fast to the truths which we have already received, we must not look with suspicion upon any new light that God may send." {GW92 390.1} {RH, August 7, 1894 par. 1} {GW 310.4} Ellen G. White, Gospel Workers (1892), page 390, paragraph 1

She repeatedly spoke of the importance of a diligent search of the scriptures.

"Wherever the truths of the gospel are proclaimed, those who honestly desire to do right are led to a diligent searching of the Scriptures. If, in the closing scenes of this earth's history, those to whom testing truths are proclaimed would follow the example of the Bereans, searching the Scriptures daily, and comparing with God's word the messages brought them, there would today be a large number loyal to the precepts of God's law, where now there are comparatively few. But when unpopular Bible truths are presented, many refuse to make this investigation. Though unable to controvert the plain teachings of Scripture, they yet manifest the utmost reluctance to study the evidences offered. Some assume that even if these doctrines are indeed true, it matters little whether or not they accept the new light, and they cling to pleasing fables which the enemy uses to lead souls astray. Thus their minds are blinded by error, and they become separated from heaven." {AA 232.1}

The Messiah spoke of this restoration of all things.

Matthew 17:10-11
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?
11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

Again, I digress a bit. The Creation is an important starting point for a restoration of all things. This is the first and most important point of the Bible.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

God created, not evolved, this world. The seven days of creation, the Sabbath is a critical part of His creation, are a critical and literal point of the Bible.

Gen 2:1-3
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

The Creation and the Creator are a critical part of the Three Angels' Message and all truth.

Revelation 14:6-7
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

The Bible is a complete complex structure of truth. When you choose to deny any part of truth, your faith is weakened. This will lead step by step to a complete loss of all faith in the Bible and in the God of the Bible.

When I was at Andrews University I observed all kinds of intellectual skepticism of Bible truth among some of the faculty. This was particularly true of some in the science faculty. I was influenced and swayed by these ideas and suffered a serious drop in my faith in the Bible.

I am glad to see this issue being addressed at the highest levels of the Seventh-day Adventist church. I pray this move will continue to an affirmation of all Biblical truth.

Do you accept every word of the Bible as truth or do you pick and choose what you practice as truth?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-uh-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
