Brethren,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly sabbath.

These are exciting times. I firmly believe that we are seeing the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The showers of the Latter Rain are on the horizon. Pentecost, May 15, 2005 or before may be the beginning of miracles. This is the time of the spreading of the Fourth Angel's Message.

I was speaking to an Adventist brother on the phone this week about present truth. I spoke with him about the Fourth Angel's Message. He was specific about the expected requirements of a "message".

The message must come from the SDA church.
The message must be from the Bible.
There must be a "messenger".

I disagree with those who have a view of the "Holy Seventh-Day Adventist Church". It reminds me of the attitude of the "Holy Roman Catholic Church". There is nothing holy or sacred about a denomination or an institution. The church of God is a people not an institution. The 144,000 are not a denomination. They are a people, children of Israel.

I do agree that those following the truth are more than likely to be Seventh-Day Adventists. Only those following existing truth are in a position to understand, promote, and follow greater light. The Fourth Angel's Message is being presented almost exclusively by Adventists.

The Fourth Angel's Message is from the Bible. Its appearance is prophecied in Revelation 18. Its content is a full restoration of God's law as found in the statutes and judgements. The website describes this in detail.

The Three Angels' Messages had a major "messenger", Ellen White. There were many other "messengers". William Miller, Joseph Bates, James White, and many others. A "messenger" is not always a "prophet". There are also many types of "prophets".

The history and understanding of the Three Angels' Messages is clearer because hindsight is always clearer. Understanding of what is happening right now is less clear and the future is murkier yet. The Bible speaks of a Third Elijah preparing the way of the Second Coming. John the Baptist was the Second Elijah preparing the way of the First Coming.

The Fourth Angel's Message has many messengers. John VanDenburgh, Richard and Melody Drake, Shauna Manfredine, Danette Davis, and many others. There are many others with important messages that parallel and support that of the Fourth Angel. I suspect there already is a "prophet". I suspect there already is a Third Elijah. Humility and dignity require that we do not dwell on these things. The work is of the Lord. History will decide and record such things.

There are many parallels between the Three Angels' Messages and the Fourth Angel's Message. Some are more apparent, others will become clearer in time. I have read of the large number who were counted among those in the Great Disappointment and the much smaller number that continued afterward to become the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. I think of the large number of those in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church today and the much smaller number of those in the 144,000. This simple question forces itself on my mind. Where will I stand? Where will you stand?

Shabbat Shalom
