Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly sabbath.

I have been deeply troubled this week. The Spirit has been talking to my heart.

I have been shown several videos recently which made a deep impression. I was deeply impressed in a positive way by the content. But, on reflection, I was even more impressed in a negative way by the style of presentation. I recognized a problem that I have struggled with in my own preentations.

Satan delights in causing a misdirected obsession which leads many (myself included) to attack untruths too forcefully. This creates an unpleasant spirit of contention and not the peace of God. It also places the focus on error rather than truth. This reminds me of the words of the Messiah:

Matthew 5:33-37

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

and James 5:12

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and [your] nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

These verses and the example of the life of the Messiah tell me that it is far better and more important to spread truth than criticism. I have noticed a problem before that sometimes a personal testimony says more about the evil from which a person was saved than the truth that saved them.

I have observed that a large audience can be attracted by speaking forcefully and at length about sin and its condemnation. Passions can be aroused with a loud presentation. I am reminded of the experience of Elijah:

1 Kings 19:11

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. and, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; [but] the LORD [was] not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the LORD [was] not in the earthquake:

And after the earthquake a fire; [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

We need the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit to have the right attitude and the right words to say. The words of instruction to the disciples are valuable also for us.

Matthew 10:16

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Satan would like to trick us into using his methods which raises up a spirit that is not the Holy Spirit. The ways of the world are not the ways of God. We must not fall into the trap of using the ways of the world to attract attention to the message of God. Many mighty, popular, and admired preachers have attracted personal attention and great followings using the allure and excitement brought by using the methods of this world.

I seek to follow the example of my Saviour. He occasionally spoke words of harsh and bitter condemnation for the leaders of the church in His day. He spoke far more in quietness and truth.

May you find peace in truth. In the name of Yahushua Messiah the son of God.

Shabbat Shalom
