Wed Dec 29 16:54:35 EST 2004 Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA our Father, On Sunday December 26, 2004 00:58:49 UTC an earthquake and disaster of biblical proportions occurred off the west coast of northern Sumatra. The magnitude 9.0 earthquake was only the world's fourth most powerful since 1900, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. A list of the strongest earthquakes in recent history: 1. May 22, 1960, magnitude-9.5, Chile. 2. March 28, 1964, magnitude-9.2, Prince William Sound, Alaska. 3. March 9, 1957, magnitude-9.1, Andreanof Islands, Alaska. 4. Dec. 26, 2004, magnitude-9.0, Sumatra, Indonesia. The earthquake created a tsunami traveling at 500 miles an hour which resulted in waves up to 20 feet high crashing into the shores of Indonesia, India, and many others. Over 60,000 have been counted as killed. This number will continue to increase. Thousands are still missing. The aftermath of disease will also kill thousands. You can read these events in the newspaper. I mention them because of the prophetic implications. This event can be compared to the Great Lisbon Earthquake. The Great Lisbon Earthquake which is often mentioned as a prophetic sign occurred on November 1, 1755. Today the quake is thought to have had a magnitude well above 8.5 and an epicenter some 200 kilometers off the southwestern corner of Portugal. Tsunamis rushed upon the shore, killing numerous refugees. An estimate has been made of over 60,000 dead. There is an interesting similiarity. The Lisbon earthquake struck during a Catholic holiday, All Souls Day. It was still Christmas in America when the Sumatra earthquake occurred. There is little mention of the fact that major earthquakes occurred in nearby regions before and after the Sumatra earthquake. Shakeups of this size can release pressure points all around the earth. We are probably going to see many more and even more devastating according to prophecy. Revelation speaks of earthquakes. Revelation 6:12-17 12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; 13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. 14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? We are now living in the time of the sixth seal. Part of this prophecy has not occurred yet. The signs which occurred at the opening of the sixth seal about 1844 will probably repeat at the completion of the sixth seal before the seventh seal. The recent events confirm our expectation that the end of time is within the next year or two. Have you prepared your heart? Have you reached out to those around you? Have you done what you can to reach the lost with the truth? Jeremiah 8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. These events increase the anxieties of the people of the world. These anxieties have been inflamed greatly since the 2001-9-11 disaster in America. Nearly every day deaths and atrocities in the Iraq war are repeated. Those who are prepared for the end of time will not be anxious or disturbed.
