Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly sabbath. I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord.

I was pondering the words of a prominent evangelist. He was talking about making choices when faced with difficult new teachings from the Bible. He repeated these words several times in a recent evangelistic series.

"Do the safe thing."

I felt a little tickling of discomfort in the back of my mind when I heard this. I kept pondering the thought expressed and it troubled me. Something didn't seem right about it.

One night it came to me what it was that troubled me. What is the proper reaction when faced with difficult new teachings from the Bible?

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Holy Scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Acts 17:11

When faced with difficult teachings we need to go to the Bible and pray for the Spirit to lead us to truth. Therefore the correct attitude is:

"Do the right thing."

The attitude of being safe sounds a lot like selfish and self-centered thinking. It also reminds me of the excuse used by some when faced with a difficult subject. "Is this a salvational issue?"

The latter says what is the minimum I can do to be saved. The other says I will do whatever might save me. Both indicate a self-centered attitude. The fact is that nothing we do to obey requirements is going to save us.

We are saved by believing in the the Messiah and his sacrifice for us. After we are saved we will study the Bible to learn how we should walk in the truth. We do this out of love and faith that God has a way of truth for us to follow. Love leads us to "Do the right thing."

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

The Bible tells us that we are not left to guessing or uncertainty. When we seek truth we will know it

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matthew 7:7

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32

I have started watching 3ABN over the internet. I have been encountering more and more teachings by evangelists that the statutes were nailed to the cross. This teaching is presented as a rebuttal to those who teach that the commandments were nailed to the cross.

It is certainly true that the commandments were not nailed to the cross. It is certainly true that the sacrificial system was nailed to the cross. It is unfortunate that so many have chosen to sacrifice the guidance of the statutes and nail them to the cross.

A major distinction is made that the ten commandments were written on tablets of stone by the finger of God and placed inside the ark. The statutes on the other hand were written by Moses and placed in a pouch in the side of the ark. This distinction is used to validate calling the comandments the "Law of God" and the statutes the "Law of Moses". After creating this distinction the "Law of Moses" is nailed to the cross.

The problem is that this distinction is not found in the Bible.

Malachi 4:4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

It is called the "Law of Moses" but where did it come from? Time and time again the Bible says "the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel". The statutes are the commands of God.

I am not going to try to completely cover the subject of the validity of the statutes of God for our time. There are many sources for that. Just a few:

For those who claim the statutes were nailed to the cross I also offer the testimony of God's own prophet. Let those who disagree with the spirit of prophecy, the testimony of Jesus, do so at their own peril.

"In consequence of continual transgression, the moral law was repeated in awful grandeur from Sinai. Christ gave to Moses religious precepts which were to govern the everyday life. These statutes were explicitly given to guard the ten commandments. They were not shadowy types to pass away with the death of Christ. They were to be binding upon man in every age as long as time should last. These commands were enforced by the power of the moral law, and they clearly and definitely explained that law." {RH, May 6, 1875 par. 10}

Why is it that a clear "Thus saith the Lord" is not enough to lead people to accept the truth?

II Thessalonians 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

Do you know the truth? Have you sought the truth with all your heart? Will you do the right thing?

May we all find peace and unity in the soon coming of IAUShUO (Ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.

Shabbat Shalom
