Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly sabbath. I hope this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of the Lord.

I have been reading through the Desire of Ages. This week I was reading the chapter "Gethsemane". It struck me that Gethsemane is a type of the end of time.

Jesus was performing His last work on earth. His imminent death on the cross was the final victory over the claims of Satan.

"When the last steps of Christ's humiliation were to be taken, when the deepest sorrow was closing about His soul, He said to His disciples, "The prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me." "The prince of this world is judged." Now shall he be cast out. John 14:30; 16:11; 12:31. With prophetic eye Christ traced the scenes to take place in His last great conflict. He knew that when He should exclaim, "It is finished," all heaven would triumph. His ear caught the distant music and the shouts of victory in the heavenly courts. He knew that the knell of Satan's empire would then be sounded, and the name of Christ would be heralded from world to world throughout the universe." {DA 679.1}

At the end of time there will be a shout of victory at the final deliverance from sin.

The struggle with Satan was reaching its climax.

"As Christ felt His unity with the Father broken up, He feared that in His human nature He would be unable to endure the coming conflict with the powers of darkness. In the wilderness of temptation the destiny of the human race had been at stake. Christ was then conqueror. Now the tempter had come for the last fearful struggle. For this he had been preparing during the three years of Christ's ministry. Everything was at stake with him. If he failed here, his hope of mastery was lost; the kingdoms of the world would finally become Christ's; he himself would be overthrown and cast out. But if Christ could be overcome, the earth would become Satan's kingdom, and the human race would be forever in his power. With the issues of the conflict before Him, Christ's soul was filled with dread of separation from God. Satan told Him that if He became the surety for a sinful world, the separation would be eternal. He would be identified with Satan's kingdom, and would nevermore be one with God." {DA 686.5}

The end of time will be the climax of the final struggle of the redeemed. This is the time of Jacob's trouble when the saints are sealed and stand without an intercessor.

The disciples were to fail in supporting Jesus in this struggle even though He had warned them and gave instruction for how to have mastery.

"Rising with painful effort, He staggered to the place where He had left His companions. But He "findeth them asleep." Had He found them praying, He would have been relieved. Had they been seeking refuge in God, that satanic agencies might not prevail over them, He would have been comforted by their steadfast faith. But they had not heeded the repeated warning, "Watch and pray." At first they had been much troubled to see their Master, usually so calm and dignified, wrestling with a sorrow that was beyond comprehension. They had prayed as they heard the strong cries of the sufferer. They did not intend to forsake their Lord, but they seemed paralyzed by a stupor which they might have shaken off if they had continued pleading with God. They did not realize the necessity of watchfulness and earnest prayer in order to withstand temptation." {DA 688.1}

In Gethsemane Jesus stood in His final battle with Satan. At Armageddon the saints will stand in the final battle with Satan. Just as Jesus had the victory in Gethsemane the saints will triumph over Satan and be delivered from His hand and taken to heaven as judgment is poured out on the earth.

The church of Laodicea at the time of the end receives the same instruction that Jesus gave to the disciples, "Watch and pray". Many will be asleep like the disciples. The last part of the paragraph bears repeating.

"They did not intend to forsake their Lord, but they seemed paralyzed by a stupor which they might have shaken off if they had continued pleading with God. They did not realize the necessity of watchfulness and earnest prayer in order to withstand temptation." {DA 688.1}

Though the disciples failed in the Garden of Gethsemane they had a second chance after Golgotha which they used with great results. The end of time will soon be here. For the church of Laodicea, this is the last chance.

Mark 13
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Jesus is coming soon. Are you making full preparation for your last chance?

May we all find peace and unity in the soon coming of IAUShUO (Ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.

Shabbat Shalom
