The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 1st day of the 2nd month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6014 Anno Mundi.

It is 4 weeks and 6 days until Pentecost Sabbath on the evening of the 6th day of the 3rd month (Thursday, May 20 on the 2010 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Wednesday, May 19th).

This year, those who follow the Millerite Calendar determination will be one month later than my research has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates for God's Sacred Calendar. The dates on the Jewish Calendar are one day earlier in the spring and one day early in the fall.

I have been engaged in an extended email discussion with a newsletter reader about God's covenants with men. He is working on a major presentation on the subject. The following is an excerpt.

_____

"I have been spending a lot of time trying to develop a better way to explain the topic of the covenants. Being a Sabbath keeper for thirty three years in the Christian Church, I have come face to face with this controversial topic on many occasions and I am sure you have as well. As I progressed in my walk with the Creator, I began adopting more of his commandments into my life. As I did this, I could not help but share the joy I received with fellow SDA church members and pastors. But I soon found that the arguments used by Sunday churches against the 7th day Sabbath were the same used by 7th Day Adventists to excuse themselves from keeping the Law of Moses."

"This same spirit has overflowed into many Torah reform communities throughout the USA. Many have adopted the festivals and say Bible words in Hebrew; but they resort to the same arguments as the SDAs and the Protestant churches to excuse themselves from advancing in the reforms specified by Moses. What is it in the Bible that seems to be causing this? Sadly the finger of blame points to something Jesus spoke to the disciples at the last supper. “And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament (covenant), which is shed for many for the remission of sins." (Matthew 26:27-28)"

"This text has become a stumbling block to Biblical reform, keeping believers from experiencing total freedom to obey every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. It is my belief that the Church has twisted Christ’s words and by so doing, they have turned the Bible into a buffet; each forming doctrines that please their own soul. These undisciplined disciples do not realize that the church is a hospital where each member who enters His church must be served fare that is pleasing to the “Heavenly Dietitian”!. Father! "Give us this day our daily bread."(Matthew 6:11) Because the church has refused to partake of the Father’s heavenly bread, the church has become a house of bedlam and confusion."And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her (Babylon) my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities."(Revelation 18:4-5)"

"The theory held by the Protestant church at large is that Jesus nullified the Covenant made with Israel at the last supper which suspends the Law of Moses. Most protestants hold to this theory because it releases them from the Sabbath Commandment. Most Sabbatarians agree with the New Covenant theory as held by the protestant church because it releases them from taking the entire Mosaic Covenant seriously."

This reader is developing some thoughts about the idea there are four different covenants. My study leads me to the understanding there is only one covenant. God does not change and His Word does not change. The covenant is restated with additional specific promises to different individuals in different cultural contexts but it is all one covenant. There is no "New" covenant which replaces an "Old" covenant but there are "Renewed" covenants which expand and "Refresh" the "Everlasting Covenant".

The original covenant with Adam was simple. Obey and you will live.

Genesis 2:16-17
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

The covenant was expanded after sin to include promises for the destruction of the serpent/Satan and the restoration of Eden.

Genesis 3:14-15
14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

The Bible does not go into detail but I believe it is clear the skins came from animals sacrificed by Adam and Eve for their sin and the plan of salvation was revealed to them. The covenant was expanded after the flood to include promises for safety from another flood. Notice, obedience was still a part of the covenant.

Genesis 7:1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

Genesis 9:12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

Genesis 9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

The covenant was expanded again with specific promises to Abraham. Again, notice the part of obedience.

Genesis 17:1-2
1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.

The covenant was to all generations.

Genesis 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

This is why all obedient children of God are also considered children of Abraham.

Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

New conditions were added to the covenant beginning with Abraham.

Genesis 17:10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

God renewed the requirements of the covenant to Moses and the children of Israel and they agreed to obey.

Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

Exodus 19:8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

Ask yourself, was our Saviour intending to replace, change or do away with the everlasting covenant or was He adding to it making it fresh and renewed?

Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Those who follow the truth will do what our Saviour did, for He followed the Law of Moses, and we will be obedient as was our father Abraham.

John 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

We will honor the blood of our Saviour and the everlasting covenant by our obedience and submission to all He has asked us to do.

Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

Will you obey God's direction to us or look for excuses to disobey His covenant?

Malachi 4:4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
