Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 13th day of the 9th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6015 Anno Mundi.

It is 17 weeks and 1 day until the new year begins with the Spring Sabbaths. The first Unleavened Bread Sabbath begins the evening of the 15th day of the 1st month (Sabbath, April 7th on the 2012 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Friday, April 6th).

An amazing thing occurs in the Gregorian Calendar years of both 2011 and 2012. Those who follow the Millerite Calendar and the Jewish Calendar agree with what my research, and many others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar!

There is an interesting discussion in the "Adventists in Publishing" group at LinkedIn.com, which I thought would be valuable to share with others who may not participate in the group.

Lennox Abrigo • Am I internally conflicted by cherishing two inconsistent feelings: being sadly unsure in my heart if I'll go to hell when Jesus returns and being joyfull in church about His imminent appearance?

_____

Frank T. Clark • Very internally conflicted! The Bible clearly states we can be certain our election is sure. What he asks is simple. Walk in the life he describes. We have forgiveness for our failures. He will change our hearts when we let him. Just trust him and do what he asks. In my own life I know that when I truly studied to know what He expects and am willing to do it, a freedom from fear comes over me. Oh yes, there are still struggles and concerns but these are in the context of knowing He is in charge and is doing what is needed.

Noni Gibbs • Paul told the Philippians to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling. In many other places, Paul made it clear that our salvation was freely provided through the shed blood of Jesus, so he isn't meaning that we can actually work for our salvation.

Salvation is both a momentous, instantaneous event, and a lifetime process. We are given salvation as soon as we accept Jesus and His sacrifice on our behalf. We keep from falling away from this salvation by walking in the light...by living our lives as the Bible and the Holy Spirit direct us to do.

Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him...

Fear and trembling? Yes, at times. We never want to view our precious gift carelessly, or take it for granted that we are saved just because we do or believe certain things. But on the other side of the fear and trembling...that periodic examination of ourselves to ensure (with the help of the Holy Spirit) that we are not secretly harboring any cherished sin...lies perfect peace and joy.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10

Lennox Abrigo • Noni and Frank, Your very insightful comments have certainly moved the discussion along. May I ask: Are both of you sure you're not going to hell?

_____

Frank T. Clark • There is a danger of arrogant self-assurance and blindness but nevertheless, I believe in the words of my saviour:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I am further assured by every word of guidance and promise I read such as:

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Note: the Greek word commandments is entole which a careful reading of a thorough Greek Dictionary reveals means the Law of Moses.

http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=G1785&t=KJV

Psalms 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

The word law is Torah or Law of Moses. The word offend is stumbling or "nothing shall cause them to fall". I point this out because a lot of uncertainty of salvation I felt years ago was based on uncertainty of God's guidance because of the artificial limitation of many church teachings focusing only on the Ten Words. When I was made aware of the greater guidance of God's Law of Love as embodied in all His Law which includes the part of His Law called the Law of Moses, I found greater assurance and peace.

I love the song which sums this all as "Trust and Obey". Lack of assurance is often traced to a shortcoming in one or both of these interdependent areas. I trust the grace of God is saving me now and will save me in the end. My obedience builds and complements my trust in His power to change me.

Yes! I am certain He has saved me and will save me to live with Him forever!

Mario Petrovalle • Hello Brother Lennox: You may find comfort in reading the short first epistle of John. Near the end he says, "These things I have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." I JOHN 5: 13

Arla Caraboolad • You must have grown up Adventist! Just kidding. We are not the only ones who have insecurity on this issue. However, as a Family Therapist of 20 years, one thing I see more clearly all the time, is that if we had to be good enough, nobody would make it.

We fall so far short of God's graciousness. Even when we are totally in love with Him and committed to Him. We can't help it--we are broken. I've seen "pillars of the church" in therapy, and once you get inside the system, it's a mess, and sometimes ugly, and there is so little insight into any of it! We are all self-deceived. If God didn't save us by grace, there wouldn't be any salvation. We need to relax into His love and start enjoying Him.

_____

Lennox Abrigo • Arla, You must NOT have grown up SDA! (laugh). As you rightly suspected, I have. Your confidence in God's grace, however, is a powerful witness. One of its sources is probably your settled belief that all of Adam's children are, by nature, spiritually defective (Ephe. 2:1), in other words, we have all come short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). While true, this biblical concept is difficult to accept because nothing in SDA culture reinforces it. It's often stated, but not reinforces by our rituals, policies and dogmas.

_____

Arla Caraboolad • Actually, I did grow up SDA! It's taken many years to get it all straight. But the path God put me on helped a lot! My first job out of college was teaching in the CA women's prison. The book you see in the picture chronicles that journey. The Worst Evil--Losing Yourself. (The title came from EGW's quote "Sin is the worst of all evils." I've learned that sin is nothing more than separating yourself from God. Wow!!! He's always coming after us. And if you lose you--you have nothing left.

_____

Frank T. Clark • I am also a fifth-generation, lifetime Seventh-day Adventist so I understand clearly the SDA culture programming. By the grace of God, deep Bible study, and a willingness to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit I overcame the limitations and failures of the SDA culture and now benefit from the truth and strength of the SDA culture. I assume you recognize that no religion has all the truth but the SDA is the closest. It also took me 50 years to reach a settling in of the truth to find a deep peace with my Saviour.

_____

Lennox Abrigo • Frank, Have you or anyone else determined what "all the truth" is? May I suggest that until that discovery is made, it's imposible for us to decide objectively if SDAs are closest to it.

_____

Frank T. Clark • Obviously, I made a subjective statement. However, I believe the Bible is the source of all the truth. I believe all of what the Bible says and especially I believe the words of our Saviour:

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

I believe these words are true and explicit. "When the Spirit of Truth is come, He will guide you into all truth." Therefore, the question is, "Has the Spirit of Truth come?" If you believe the Spirit of Truth has not come, then the next obvious question is this. When will the Spirit of Truth come?

There is a lot more I could say but this is not the place for a sermon. Perhaps, we are beginning to uncover why I feel the assurance of salvation and it appears you do not.

_____

Do you feel the assurance of God's love and His ability to save you?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
