Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 1st day of the 12th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6018 Anno Mundi.

God's New Year begins with the Spring Sabbaths in 6 weeks and one day with the first Sabbath of Unleavened Bread, the 15th day of the 1st month (Sunday, April 5th on the 2015, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset Saturday, April 4th).

On God's Calendar the Sacred month begins on the world day after lunar conjunction and the sacred year begins with the Spring Passover Rule dates for determining the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is the same this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is one day early.

My wife and I were having one of our theological discussions and I was sharing with her some repeated and additional thoughts about prayer requests. She said I should make this a newsletter, so that is what I am doing.

I have had newsletters on concepts of prayer such as the 2009-11-06 "Prayer" newsletter and the 2011-06-17 "Prayer and Obedience" newsletter but I could not find where I have ever made mention of some thoughts about prayer requests.

I am regularly surrounded with constant prayer requests, talk of making prayer requests, discussion about prayer requests, prayer warriors and more. I have discovered that the more I read and study the Bible as well as obeying God's Word, I have this sense that comes over me when the substance of what I am hearing does not seem to match the Word of God I have hidden in my heart.

I have a sense that something is not quite right in what I hear about prayer requests. It is hard to put my finger on the exact nature of the problem but it starts here.

Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Now, let there not be any misunderstanding of what I am saying. We certainly should pray and make prayer requests. One fascinating example of a prayer request is made by Elijah.

I Kings 18:36-37
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

We are to pray for others as demonstrated by our Savior who declared He had prayed for Peter.

Luke 22:31-32
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Our Savior left an example of a marvelous prayer in John 17. He prayed for His disciples.

John 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

We are all His who believe on Him so that prayer is for us but He was very thorough and specific.

John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

We should certainly follow the example of our Savior and pray for ourselves and each other.

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

It is proper for someone to ask others to pray for them when they are also praying for themselves, seeking, and following the will of their Savior. It is very proper to pray with each other.

However, here is where I begin to feel uncomfortable. When requests for prayer are repeated over and over to many people. This is particularly troubling when these requests are asked to be relayed to others they don't even know and don't know them. It begins to sound more and more like "vain repetition".

It becomes even more troubling when it appears that some people are seen as better sources of prayer such as when people ask that prayer requests be relayed to "3ABN". Then, there are prayer warrior programs put in place to spread prayer requests to large groups of people who repeat prayers over and over for people they don't even know.

James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Please understand that I am not accusing anyone of sin or misconduct! I have no doubt these people are sincere. However, I am concerned that a person can be sincerely wrong. The extremes of prayer misuse is seen in the churches where they pray to saints or crosses. There are also the issues of mysticism (Satan worship) masquerading as prayer to God.

My Bible study shows we are to pray to the Father. Our Savior was clear in His guidance.

John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

His example and direction for us was always that we should pray to the Father. We are also to pray in His name.

Now, if my study and thoughts are missing some important Biblical points that are clearer to you than they are to me, please share them with me. Maybe you can help me to feel more comfortable.

My prayer request is for the triumph of the Third Elijah Message and the sealing of the 144k. My prayer is for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. My prayer is that we will not be near-sighted and pray for only for short term considerations but also pray for eternal consequences. My prayer is that we will not focus only on temporal needs but focus also on the full revelation of God's eternal truth.

Are you praying with sincerity and in truth?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
