Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 22nd day of the 7th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6014 Anno Mundi.

Today is Last Day Sabbath from the evening of the 22nd day of the 7th month (Friday, October 1st on the 2010 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Thursday, September 30th).

This year, those who follow the Millerite Calendar determination will be one month later than my research has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The dates on the Jewish Calendar are one day early in the spring and one day early in the fall.

I often feel strangled when religious topics are being discussed and I know I am expected to keep silent about "Present Truth". The Sabbath School lesson this last quarter provoked many opportunities where commenting on the lesson would step into an understanding which goes outside of approved Adventist doctrine.

The sincere desire to avoid creating controversy in the church is often a struggle with sharing a different understanding of what the Bible says in a public setting. In a private discussion with someone who shows a sincere desire for a better understanding of God's Word, I do not hesitate to share a different understanding of what the Bible says.

I recently saw some guidelines for worship presenters stating only approved Adventist doctrine is to be presented. It is a very sad day when it is not acceptable to read some passages from the Bible, state you believe what the Bible says, and practice what the Bible says.

The formal word for this type of action is hypocrisy. The dictionary says:

1. a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.
2. a pretense of having some desirable or publicly approved attitude.

You may not immediately recognize the hypocrisy which is being practiced. "Christian" denominations, except Catholicism, teach the Bible is the only guide to sincere belief. Some Catholics may think they follow the Bible but the Roman Catholic denomination actually teaches the Bible is secondary to "Apostolic" tradition. Essentially this means you follow the teachings of the denomination and not the Bible directly. When you are honest, does this sound hauntingly familiar to Adventist practice?

The Protestant Reformation almost changed the Catholic tradition with the idea of "Sola Scriptura" or "Only Scripture". Unfortunately, Protestants continued to worship on Sunday as decreed by the Catholic church so their hypocrisy was unmasked and their "Reformation" failed. This is proclaimed in these Adventist sources pointing to Catholic documents.

"The Protestants claim to stand upon the written word only. They profess to hold the Scripture alone as the standard of faith. They justify their revolt by the plea that the [Catholic] Church has apostatized from the written word and follows tradition. Now the Protestant's claim, that they stand upon the written word only, is not true. Their profession of holding the Scripture alone as the standard of faith, is false. PROOF: The written word explicitly enjoins the observance of the seventh day as the Sabbath. They do not observe the seventh day, but reject it. If they do truly hold the scripture alone as their standard, they would be observing the seventh day as is enjoined in the Scripture throughout. Yet they not only reject the observance of the Sabbath enjoined in the written word, but they have adopted and do practice the observance of Sunday, for which they have only the tradition of the [Catholic] Church. Consequently the claim of 'Scripture alone as the standard,' fails; and the doctrine of 'Scripture and tradition' as essential, is fully established, the Protestants themselves being judges."
[The Archbisop of Reggio (Gaspar [Ricciulli] de Fosso) made his speech at the last opening session of Trent, (17th Session) reconvened under a new pope (Pius IV), on the 18th of January, 1562 after having been suspended in 1552. — J. H. Holtzman, Canon and Tradition, published in Ludwigsburg, Germany, in 1859, page 263]

Addendum

There were some who did not understand the connection of my message with the words of the Archbisop of Reggio at the Council of Trent so I will make an adaptation, changing a few words, to clarify the point.

"The Adventists claim to stand upon the written word only. They profess to hold the Scripture alone as the standard of faith. They justify their criticism of Protestants by the plea that the [Catholic] Church has apostatized from the written word and follows tradition. Now the Adventist's claim, that they stand upon the written word only, is not true. Their profession of holding the Scripture alone as the standard of faith, is false. PROOF: The written word explicitly enjoins the observance of the seven feast days as the Sabbath. They do not observe the seven feast days, but reject them. If they do truly hold the scripture alone as their standard, they would be observing the seven feast days as is enjoined in the Scripture throughout. Yet they not only reject the observance of the seven feast day Sabbaths enjoined in the written word, but they have adopted and do practice the observance of Christmas and Easter, for which they have only the tradition of the [Catholic] Church. Consequently the claim of 'Scripture alone as the standard,' fails; and the doctrine of 'Scripture and tradition' as essential, is fully established, the Adventists themselves being judges." [The Archbisop of Reggio (Gaspar [Ricciulli] de Fosso) adapted.]

I apologize, if some find this offensive. Just as Sunday-keepers have many excuses for why they observe Sunday, Adventists have many excuses for ignoring the seven yearly Sabbaths and observing Christmas and Easter, even if only half-heartedly. I proclaim with all the love God places in my heart, my concern for my brothers and sisters who are not prepared for the End of Time which is soon to break in full force. Pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand!

After the bold action seen in these articles to maintain a pretense of upholding the Bible and condemn Protestants for keeping the wrong weekly Sabbath, a bold about face is made in other articles and the denomination uses the same Protestant arguments against the yearly Sabbaths. This hypocrisy will condemn Adventists just like it condemned the Protestants.

We find this statement recorded boldly by a famous Catholic Bishop.

http://www.IAUA.name/Letter.html

"The Catholic Church abolished not only the Sabbath, but all the other Jewish festivals."

So, we maintain a pretense of following the Bible as our only rule of faith, only as long as we are comfortable with what is says. Then, our hypocrisy is exposed when we create elaborate Bible studies, just like the Sunday keeper who rejects the weekly Sabbath, to prove we don't have to do what the Bible says and observe the yearly Sabbaths. So we continue to observe Christmas and Easter as defined by the Roman Catholic denomination.

Are you willing to accept what God says in His Word and do what He says?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
