Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 12th day of the 9th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6014 Anno Mundi.

The New Year begins with the Spring Sabbaths in 21 weeks and 3 days with the first Sabbath of Unleavened Bread on the evening of the 15th day of the 1st month (Tuesday, April 19th on the 2011 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Monday, April 18th).

An amazing thing occurs in the Gregorian Calendar years of both 2011 and 2012. Those who follow the Millerite Calendar determination agree with what my research has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar and the dates on the Jewish Calendar also agree!

As usually happens about twice a year at the time of the yearly Sabbaths, there have been many email discussions about calendar determination. Positions on the equinox, the barley, the new moon, and the full moon were advanced, disputed, argued, and debated. This fall was no exception.

I tried to keep out of the discussion, though I followed it with great interest. After reading all kinds of opinions, ideas, and conjecture, I finally had to advance a couple of simple central points.

No one addressed this critical verse so I responded:

To all who have been included in this discussion:

Please allow me to contribute to this discussion. It makes me very sad when I see so much confusion about God's Sacred Calendar. I also experienced this confusion for many years but I persevered in intense Bible Study and agonized in prayer for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It became clear to me, after even more years of careful study, the answer is actually almost simple. You can certainly disagree. I will state the first principle of the basics in brief.

This is clear to me as a direct command from God.

Genesis 1:14 And God said: 'Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years;

Paraphrasing... "Astronomical observation provides the signals for the appointed times (moedim)". While the harvest does follow the seasons it is the sun and moon which are the signals and the cause for the seasons. Don't put the effect before the cause or as they say "the cart before the horse". God's determination depends on something far more dependable that observing a harvest.

One correspondent wrote to a large group of people:

All,

The issue is made by some SDA’s that the New Year begins with the new moon AFTER the vernal equinox, a statement made in the appendix of Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, 1884 edition, p. 497 and Great Controversy, 1888 edition, p. 681. I respect Mrs. White for the things she was shown, but she did not write the appendices found in these two books. In fact they are no longer included on the newer editions of the Great Controversy, but the damage done by this falsehood continues. Here are three quotes (3 witnesses) from EGW that shows when SHE felt Passover would occur. Notice that she offers NO evidence that Passover can take place as late in the pagan months of april or early may. Notice that she does not say that the month of Abib began in late march or early april, she said Passover would be in late march or early april, which means that the month would have begun two weeks previous, which means that the first new moon could very well be before the vernal equinox.

“…The time of the Passover corresponded to the close of March or the beginning of April, and the whole land was bright with flowers, and glad with the song of birds. All along the way were spots memorable in the history of Israel, and fathers and mothers recounted to their children the wonders that God had wrought for His people in ages past. They beguiled their journey with song and music, and when at last the towers of Jerusalem came into view, every voice joined in the triumphant strain.” Desire of Ages, p. 75

“The first of these festivals, the Passover, the feast of unleavened bread, occurred in Abib, the first month of the Jewish year, corresponding to the last of March and the beginning of April. The cold of winter was past, the latter rain had ended, and all nature rejoiced in the freshness and beauty of the springtime. The grass was green on the hills and valleys, and wild flowers everywhere brightened the fields. The moon, now approaching the full, made the evenings delightful.” Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 537

At least she is consistent. Here is another quote from 1896: “The feast was held near the close of March or the beginning of April. This was springtime in Palestine, and the whole land was bright with flowers, and glad with the song of birds.” Story of Jesus, p. 31.

What can possibly be misunderstood by these very clear statements? Nature proves that the new moon NEAREST the Spring Equinox announces the new year, not the new moon after, and Sister White agrees. The ONLY way for Passover to be in late in the pagan months of march to early april is if you start the new lunar-solar year at the new moon nearest the spring equinox. Nature is the first gospel. All nature screams the majesty of YHVH. In 2010, the new year began on 3-16-2010. My crocus were up, as well as my daffodils, hyacinths, and my peach and cherry trees were in blossom. The beginning of this Scriptural year in 2010 is VERY similar to the beginning of the year in 1844.

“There is no excuse for anyone in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our [SDA] expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many ears by our [SDA] people, is not a proof that our [SDA] ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation. We are living in perilous times, and it does not become us to accept everything claimed to be truth without examining it thoroughly; neither can we afford to reject anything that bears the fruits of the Spirit of God; but we should be teachable, meek and lowly of heart. There are those who oppose everything that is not in accordance with their own ideas, and by so doing they endanger their eternal interest… The Lord designs that our opinions shall be put to the test, that we may see the necessity of closely examining the living oracles to see whether or not we are in the faith.” Review and Herald, 12-20-1892

Blessings,

I responded to the group to clarify the two different views of the equinox:

To all those striving to be a part of the 144,000,

I agree the determination of God's Sacred Calendar is based on astronomical observation as commanded by God at creation:

Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Paraphrasing, "Let them be signals for appointed times, days, and years." Unfortunately, some SDA feastkeepers have driven a stake in the ground based on one statement in an EGW book but not written by EGW herself and they will not change no matter what other evidence comes forward just as most in the SDA church have driven a stake in the ground denying the Law of Moses and will never admit they were wrong.

The spring equinox is widely recognized as a clear astronomical signal which is at the time of "Abib". Unfortunately, many try to identify "Abib" separately from the commanded astronomical signal. We must be understanding of all those who we pray are honestly seeking to follow the will of God, even when we disagree with their conclusions.

I believe it is helpful to recognize the event being signalled is not the beginning of a month which happens to occur near the equinox. The yearly signal of the spring equinox immediately precedes the yearly event of the first yearly Sabbath. The focus on the pagan concept of "New Years Day" is misplaced. Our focus is on the first Passover Sabbath. While the timing is essentially identical it is valuable to maintain the proper focus.

Therefore, a suggested simplistic replacement statement is: "The year begins with Passover which is the first full moon after the equinox." A more accurate (down to the exact minute) statement is: "The day of Passover Eve is the first 14th day (full moon) of a month where the sun rises at Golgotha (Jerusalem) after the spring equinox."

I have written a detailed examination of God's Sacred Calendar at the www.sacredcalendar.info website which you may find helpful.

_____

The next two years may have a little less discussion because almost all will agree on the dates. They may still argue on how they determined the date. I suspect God has ordained the dates will match in the next two years because final events will be occurring on those dates.

This does not apply to those who always place Pentecost on a Sunday. In 2011 Pentecost occurs on a Wednesday. In 2012 Pentecost does occur on a Sunday. Pentecost will be a very significant date because of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Several expressed the confusion and dismay caused by all the discrepancies. Isn't this what Satan has been working for? We need not be surprised. Some suggested we should ignore the importance of God's appointed time and skip the subject for other concerns.

Are you willing to be patient and diligent to discern God's Truth?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
