Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 16th day of the 2nd month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6014 Anno Mundi.

Pentecost Sabbath is in 2 weeks and 5 days starting the evening of the 6th day of the 3rd month (Wednesday, June 8th on the 2011 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Tuesday, June 7th).

An amazing thing occurs in the Gregorian Calendar years of both 2011 and 2012. Those who follow the Millerite Calendar and the Jewish Calendar agree with what my research, and many others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar!

_____

I have heard many conflicting ideas about the day of the week and the day of the month when the Crucifixion occurred. This is associated with confusion over the timing of the "Lord's Supper", Passover, Wave Sheaf, and the Resurrection. I believe the answers are clear to the careful student of the Bible.

In this brief study I will not be able to present and explain every detail or answer every objection. I will share my understanding with you and encourage you to read, study, and meditate on this subject. There are many valuable resources available on the Internet on this subject. There is also confusion and error.

I will state my conclusions first, then explain the basis for the conclusions.

  1. The sacrifice of the Passover lamb occurs about the ninth hour of daylight on the 14th day of the first month.
  2. The first yearly Sabbath of Unleavened Bread is the 15th day of the first month. In the year our Saviour was crucified the day of the Yearly Sabbath coincided with the weekly Sabbath and was therefore a "High" Sabbath.
  3. The Wave Sheaf is the morning of the 16th day of the first month.
  4. The "Lord's Supper" was instituted on the day before the crucifixion.
  5. The crucifixion was on the sixth day of the week (Friday), the day of preparation for both a yearly Sabbath and a weekly Sabbath, about the ninth hour of daylight at the time of Passover.

Passover

5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover.
Leviticus 23:5
Young's Literal Translation gives us a deeper insight into the timing.
5 in the first month, on the fourteenth of the month, between the evenings, [is] the passover to Jehovah;
Leviticus 23:5

A Google search of the phrase "between the evenings" provides many careful studies of this topic. Some are complex and loaded with error. Others are simpler and more accurate. I will refer you to the first one I found, which was accurately direct and to the point.

High Sabbath

31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
John 19:31

I believe when the day of a Yearly Sabbath coincides with a weekly Sabbath it is a "High" Sabbath. Our Saviour observed both of these Sabbaths when He rested in the tomb. Matthew could not bring himself to describe the despicable actions of the priests as occurring on a Sabbath day but only called it the day after the preparation.

62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
Matthew 27:62

Wave Sheaf/Resurrection

11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
Leviticus 23:11
This is often mistakenly assumed to be the weekly Sabbath, which denies the context and importance of a yearly event governed by another yearly event which is properly called a Sabbath. This error gives improper recognition to the first day of the week. It is true His resurrection was before dawn on a Sunday but it was associated with a yearly event which can be on any day.
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
Matthew 28:1
Essentially the same statement is found in these parallel passages. Mark 16:1 Luke 24:1 John 20:1

Lord's Supper

Here is where the real confusion begins. I suspect translation problems or whatever but the wording makes it sound like the "Lord's Supper" occurred at the time of Passover. I believe it actually occurred the day before because He was the "Lamb of God" slaughtered at the time pointed out in the Sacred Calendar.

These scriptures make it sound like preparation for the Lord's Supper was the very same day of Passover. Or, even more confusing because the 15th is actually the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which would be the day after Passover.

17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
Matthew 26:17
12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?
Mark 14:12
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
Luke 22:7

John seems more accurate because it says it was before the Passover.

1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
John 13:1

I believe there is a valuable clue in this verse.

15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
Luke 22:15

If he was eating the passover with them, why would he have needed to express a desire to eat it with them? I suspect this means He would have wished to eat the Passover with them at the proper time, which was the next day. But, He would be on the cross!

Crucifixion

They all state the crucifixion was the day of preparation. This was the sixth day of the week (Friday) before the weekly Sabbath. As stated previously, a "High" Sabbath because it was also the 15th day of the first month.

62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
Matthew 27:62
42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,
Mark 15:42
54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
Luke 23:54
14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
John 19:14

I believe it is logical and Biblically sustainable to recognize the symbolic importance of the dates on God's Sacred Calendar. The symbolism of the Passover is far more appropriate to the event of the crucifixion occuring at the prophecied time than the "Lord's Supper" which is a memorial to His crucifixion.

Do you trust in God to lead you to all truth?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of Iaushua (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
