Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 3rd day of the 8th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6016 Anno Mundi.

The fall holy day season has passed. The New Year and the Spring Holy Day season begin with the first Sabbath of Unleavened Bread in 22 weeks and 5 days starting the evening of the 15th day of the 1st month (Wednesday, March 27th on the 2013, Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Tuesday, March 26th).

I begin the month on the day after lunar conjunction and the year with the Spring Passover Rule dates my research, and others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. Those who follow the Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) will be observing the Spring Holy Days a month later and the Jewish Calculated Rabbinical Calendar begins a day early in spring.

I continued in private, as requested, with email after the discussion recorded in last weeks newsletter. Since this was a private email, I will substitute XXX for the person's name.

So tell me what things she has written trouble you or cause some questions. I would love to discuss them...

Well, Frank, I'll try to make this reasonably short.

1. I do not completely buy the "day for a year" concept. In both Daniel 8:17 and 8:26, the angel tells Daniel that the vision is for the time of the end in the far distant future. Therefore, the vision could not have begun in (or close to) Daniel's time; and must pertain to much later. If we apply the "day for a year" principle to Revelation, would it not only apply to the 1,000 years that satan was bound as well as the 1260/1,290/1,335 days? Furthermore, the Bible texts used by Adventists as "proof" texts (Numbers 14:34 and Ezekiel 4:5-6), God specifically explains that He gives them a day for a year. There is no mention of this in either Daniel or Revelation.

2. I do not believe that the pope is the Antichrist (although I don't dismiss that he will have a part in the end of days).; and I doubt if the Sabbath will be the issue at the end of time(although who we worship will be). The epistles of John make it abundantly clear that the Antichrist will deny that Christ came in the flesh. The catholic church surely believes that Christ is the Savior and that He came in the flesh (I used to be catholic). GIven the signs of the times, it certainly seems to me that radical Islam is a much better candidate for being the Antichrist than Catholicism.

3. I don't agree with EGW that Christ did not enter the Most Holy Place until 1844. Hebrews makes it abundantly clear that Jesus entered the Most Holy Place upon His ascension into heaven.

I don't blame EGW for this - I blame the Ellen White Estate and the General Conference for making her our own little "pope". Ellen white herself says that if her writings do not jive with scripture, to disregard them. She also consistently denied that she was a prophet.

All that being said, I always reserve the right to admit that I am wrong; and reserve the right to change my mind. If I didn't reserve that right, I would still be a Catholic or a JW! Does all that make sense?

I wrote: I see that the scope of your disagreement is not just with EGW but essentially with all Millerites and Adventist pioneers. She was not the source of these concepts but admittedly did not disagree with them.

Any feedback? I'm open; and you seem like a pretty reasonable person.

I tend to think very carefully before I speak. I try anyway... :-) This is far easier in written correspondence because the delay encourages careful thought rather than hot reaction. I struggle deeply with the temptation to become dogmatic and stubborn.

Religious issues are particularly sensitive because we are talking about eternity and our most deeply cherished beliefs. Please understand that if I disagree, it is only my current understanding and I clearly recognize and appreciate the difficulty of understanding God's Truth. Much of this difficulty is because of sin and the active opposition of the accuser.

With all these caveats (cautions) and trying to look beyond the surface I make these observations, also attempting to be reasonably concise.

I see patterns as the highest expression of intelligence, first in creation and secondly in recognition. The highest intelligence as found in God creates the most complex and deep patterns which we can never duplicate and can only barely understand. We will spend eternity learning the depths of God's truth and patterns and will never exhaust the subject but will always appreciate and value it. How much can we understand in our fallen state and short lifetimes? At least enough for our salvation and growth! The basic principle of the most advanced patterns is that they repeat in multiple scales of size. I am reminded of the Mandelbrot set and other fractals.

The pattern of a year for a day in prophecy is clearly established. When it applies and when it doesn't is challenging to our intelligences. Many times I suspect both conditions exist where the pattern of applying a day for a year to time periods applies at the same time a day for a day applies and even deeper applications. It would be an intense, deep and long discussion to even begin to evaluate these applications. We can only ponder and speculate on the depths of God's truth.

We also get into problems when we concentrate too heavily on future prediction using these applications. I suspect the deepest purpose of prophecy is not too predict or understand the details of the future in advance. A deeper purpose I suspect is to be prepared and forewarned of future possibilities but the most important application is described by our Saviour.

John 14:29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

I agree with you to the extent that it is inappropriate to specifically identify the Pope as "The AntiChrist". Firstly, it is clear there are many antichrists and in fact many characteristics in an antichrist though you specifically point out just one of the ones mentioned by John. The power system of the RCC is clearly (to me) the beast power mentioned in Revelation 16:13 and other places. I am highly suspicious the false prophet refers to Islam. Linking the modern use of the term Antichrist to the dragon is awkward and misleading because there are many antichrists but it is an appropriate application.

The issue of when Christ entered the Most Holy Place is a mote and a gnat. I sense there is an underlying danger and hidden agenda of trying to discredit the significance of the year 1844 by bits and pieces.

That is how I understand these issues at this point.

Are you studying to gain a greater depth of understanding of God's Truth?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
