The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 6th day of the 8th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6017 Anno Mundi.

The Fall Holy Day season is past. The Spring Holy Day season begins the New Year with Passover the evening of the 15th day of the 1st month (Tuesday, April 15th on the 2014, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset on Monday, April 14th).

The Sacred month begins on the world day after lunar conjunction and the sacred year begins with the Spring Passover Rule dates my research, and others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is the same this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is the same in the spring this year.

I have just returned from church and was pondering the sermon given by a young worker in the 3ABN Pastoral Department. It was a good sermon from the traditional Adventist viewpoint. I even respect that a few hard things were said about what God expects of us. A line was clearly drawn.

The first thing that brought a wry smile to my face was the introduction given by the head of the Pastoral Department. Among some other complimentary things said about this fellow was that he was non-controversial and non-confrontational.

Now, I have spoken often about the importance of being non-confrontational. In the previous blog I spoke of the importance of meekness, which is a related aspect of personality and action. There is always an extreme of failing to speak the truth, when it is called for, in the name of being "meek" and "non-confrontational". A sometimes troubling and tricky balance.

The subject of controversy is sometimes used with the parallel aspect of sensationalism in an improper appeal to emotion and attempting to draw a special interest to the presenter and the presentation. In this sense, being "non-controversial" is a good thing.

However, I sense a danger of these twin aspects of non-controversial and non-confrontational resulting in an expectation that a person must not "rock the boat". When the truth of the Bible is being ignored, then it becomes important to be controversial and confrontational within the framework of a loving concern for salvation and truth.

Sometimes the Truth must be spoken, even when it is controversial. This is particularly important when there is a lack of knowledge about God's Truth because it has been lost in tradition. There has been much truth lost in the Dark Ages of Apostasy.

I recall an elder's statement at a prayer meeting where he said something to the effect that knowledge doesn't save you. I addressed this in the 2006-09-01 newsletter, "Knowledge is Power". Growth in knowledge is the result of Bible Study and following God's Truth.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you from being priest to Me. Since you have forgotten the Law of your God, I will also forget your sons, even I.

Knowledge doesn't save you but rejecting knowledge results in being rejected by God. It seems that very few are interested in increasing their knowledge. The sermon was titled "The Chosen Few" from this verse:

Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few chosen.

God has called all (whoever) to Him but only those who respond (believe) become the chosen. We see this clearly illustrated in this famous verse:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

The path of truth is a narrow path. These verses illustrate the course of the "many" and the "few".

Matthew 7:13 Go in through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there are who go in through it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and constricted is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

He emphasized the characteristics of the chosen few.

  • humble
  • obedient
  • faithful

Many seem to consider being spiritually faithful to be simply a mental state of mind. I wonder what the wife would say to a husband who proclaims that he is mentally faithful. True faithfulness is a course of action that complements a mental belief.

Are you faithful to God and His Truth?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
