Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 28th day of the 12th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6017 Anno Mundi.

The Spring Holy Day season begins the New Year in 6 weeks and 4 days with Passover on the evening of the 15th day of the 1st month (Tuesday, April 15th on the 2014, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset on Monday, April 14th).

The Sacred month begins on the world day after lunar conjunction and the sacred year begins with the Spring Passover Rule dates my research, and others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is the same this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is the same in the spring this year.

One of the EGW quotes I removed (to keep the length reasonable) from the newsletter last week contained the phrase "Experimental Knowledge". This is a misunderstood term. The phrase appears 319 times in the "Complete Published Ellen G. White Writings". The word "Experimental" appears only 85 times outside of the phrase. Reading these quotes is a valuable study.

I use the CD-ROM in my study and research but the same thing is available online. I find this website to be much simpler, cleaner, faster, and easier to use than the primary search website.

An incredible example of a partial quote:

"Great changes are soon to take place in the world, and everyone will need an experimental knowledge of the things of God. It is the work of Satan to dishearten the people of God and to unsettle their faith..." {5T 273.3}

What is this "experimental knowledge" and how do we obtain it?

I consulted an online dictionary for the word "experimental" and one entry says: "based on or derived from experience; empirical: experimental knowledge."

The dictionary website gave an example search link: "What is experimental/experiential learning?" A website gave this fascinating description, which specifically applies to growing in faith.

"Experiential learning is a discovery process, in which learning happens through participation--at the physical, emotional, and intellectual level. In a discovery process, there is no one right answer that applies to everybody. The learning is individual rather than general, personal rather than impersonal.

"Experiential learning, simply put, is learning by doing, learning by actively participating. It's hands-on learning--experimenting, trying different approaches, discovering what works by doing it yourself.

"Experiential learning is nothing revolutionary. It's the way of learning that comes naturally. It's how you learn to walk, to speak your primary language, to use chopsticks or a knife and fork, to swim, to ride a bicycle. It's how you learn all of the vast amount of knowledge and skills you acquire in the first five or ten years of your life--90 percent of all you ever learn, according to some experts. Until just a few hundred years ago, experiential learning was the way that all human beings learned everything they learned."

So we must learn by practice and doing. What a concept! Practicing our faith for ourselves! Studying and learning for ourselves! Another EGW quote:

"Many look to their ministers to bring the light from God to them, seeming to think this a cheaper way than to be to the trouble of going to God for it themselves. Such lose much. If they would daily follow Christ and make Him their guide and counselor, they might obtain a clear knowledge of His will, and thus be gaining a valuable experience. For want of this very experience, brethren professing the truth walk in the sparks of others' kindling; they are unacquainted with the Spirit of God and have not a knowledge of His will, and are therefore easily moved from their faith. They are unstable, because they trusted in others to obtain an experience for them. Ample provisions have been made for every son and daughter of Adam to obtain individually a knowledge of the divine will, to perfect Christian character, and to be purified through the truth. God is dishonored by that class who profess to be followers of Christ and yet have no experimental knowledge of the divine will or of the mystery of godliness." {2T 644.1}

Numerous Bible quotes show that God has commanded us to develop an experimental knowledge.

Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Hosea 4:1 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Continuing with forceful words provided by God for modern times.

"Experience is knowledge derived from experiment. Experimental religion is what is needed now. . . . Some--yes, a large number--have a theoretical knowledge of religious truth, but have never felt the renewing power of divine grace upon their own hearts. . . . They believe in the wrath of God, but put forth no earnest efforts to escape it. They believe in heaven, but make no sacrifice to obtain it. . . . They know a remedy for sin, but do not use it. They know the right, but have no relish for it. All their knowledge will but increase their condemnation. They have never tasted and learned by experience that the Lord is good." {Mar 74.2}

"The teachers employed in our schools should be acquainted with God by an experimental knowledge. They should know Him because they obey all the commandments He has given. Jehovah engraved His Ten Commandments on tables of stone, that all the inhabitants of earth might understand His eternal, unchangeable character. Those teachers who desire to advance in learning and proficiency need to lay hold of these wonderful revelations of God. But it is only as heart and mind are brought into harmony with God that they will understand the divine requirements." {CT 248.1}

Obedience is linked to experimental knowledge! Lest any should think the limit of their responsibility is the Ten Commandments, consider this amazing quote among others, which have been presented in previous newsletters and on the website.

"From the light which God has given me it would be for our advantage to study the directions given to Israel. (Read Malachi 4.) Verse 4 especially has a meaning which all have not comprehended. Let it be carefully considered." {PH087 8.2}

Malachi 4:4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

Are you studying and practicing obedience to obtain an experimental knowledge?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
