The Lord is Coming!  Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 25th day of the 1st month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6018 Anno Mundi.

Pentecost is in 5 weeks and 5 days on the evening of the 6th day of the 3rd month (Wednesday, June 4th on the 2014, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset on Tuesday, June 3rd).

The Sacred month begins on the world day after lunar conjunction and the sacred year begins with the Spring Passover Rule dates my research, and others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is the same this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is the same in the spring this year but one day early in the fall.

Happy Sacred New Year! God's Sacred New Year's Day is the first yearly Sabbath, which was Tuesday last week.

I received an email from a newsletter reader:

Dear Frank

I hope you had a good Passover this last week, and Feast of Unleavened bread (not quite finished). At church this week, the presentation began with the preacher speaking about the pagan origins of Easter and how we should not be observing it, which was refreshing. Later I asked him, that having realized that Easter was a pagan festival for pagan-oriented people, what did he think we should do about the real festival last Tuesday, of Passover? He was unsure, but I feel he was open to learning more.

By the way, my wife and I were traveling through South Carolina so we knew no one and no one knew us, but our God always, when we are traveling, puts us in places to influence people for Him, or to learn from someone.

We would really like to know more about suggestions on how to observe Passover. It is not so easy when you are doing all the study yourself, and sifting through so many things on the internet. Also, since we are traveling (although we were in one place at Passover for a week), it is not so easy. We could not put it off for one month because we will then be occupied with a series of evangelistic meetings in the Philippines, which I will be presenting.

We have been in contact with the people in a Jewish NGO (Non-Government Organisation) and they are saying the best way to understand it would be to experience it in Israel. We are thinking about this because this group of people know we are Sabbath-keeping Christians interested in understanding the Jewish faith better. They already know we are vegetarian and do not drink fermented drinks, but they are also strict in their faith.

Last Wednesday at 3am in the morning we went outside to see the blood moon. It was amazing. Were you able to see it? I am not a sensationalist, but with 4 blood moons happening at 6 month intervals, who knows what this may portend? Do you have any thoughts on it?

I look forward to hearing from you.

I responded:

Dear XXXXX,

Thank you for writing. I am glad to hear from you. I had a wonderful week of observing Unleavened Bread and being reminded of the difficulty of keeping the leaven/fermentation of sin out of our lives.

I am happy to hear that at least one pastor is speaking against observing pagan Babylon/Catholic practices. Unfortunately, there are many promoting Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter, Christmas, and other Babylon/Catholic nonsense.

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

There is a little bit of confusion about what Passover and Unleavened Bread are really about in a technical sense. Passover is a specific sacrificial observance at the Sacred New Year's Eve followed by a meal. It is replaced by a communion observance/meal as modeled by our Savior including the symbolic act of humility which some continue to call Passover. The commanded practice of avoiding unleavened bread begins at this time lasting through the week. Some refer to the whole week as Passover. The first (15th) and last (21st) day of the Unleavened Bread week are observed exactly the same as the weekly Sabbath as described by Leviticus 23.

This is all God commands. Anything else is purely traditional. Jews in particular have enormous numbers of traditions. I am not Jewish and I do not believe in practicing or teaching Jewish traditions. There is nothing wrong with traditions except the danger of obscuring what God actually commands or attaching religious significance to them. I think the idea of the value of experiencing Passover in Israel is completely misguided. Ellen White had a great deal of things to say on this subject. I have collected them on my website.

The significance of the blood moon is interesting mythology but I do not believe it is likely to be of any particular spiritual or prophetic significance or importance. It is actually not that rare of an astronomical occurrence. Those signs are for non-believers anyway. True Believers are focusing on spiritually significant aspects of what God is doing such as the shaking, the Elijah Message, the preparation of the 144k, ... True Believers are looking to participate in God's plan and not sensationalism or conjecture promoted by those who do not even follow the Bible correctly.

Be at peace,

Dear Frank

I agree with what you say. I have been to Israel etc before, in 1982, to take photos for evangelistic meetings and I also use them for children's meetings to make some of the Bible stories more meaningful by showing the actual places where they may have happened.

What I am really more interested in doing is comparing notes with others on how to actually spend the day of the various holy days. Of course, some are more definite than others, like how to keep the Day of Atonement, although they all have much spiritual richness, but how can we share this in a holy convocation with others? It is this corporate aspect which is missing. Regarding the Passover, I have read so many things about it, and have compiled many ideas together but there are so many traditions on how to observe it, that one needs to understand and work out how to apply to make it the most meaningful group experience.

I personally find some simple practices help to highlight aspects of holy observance. For instance, lighting candles before the Sabbath comes, to remind us of the Sabbath and that it is to be light to our lives that if we learn how to observe it in a holy way throughout, God promises to make us ride in the high places (defence).

Anyway, just thought you might have something to share.

I responded:

Dear XXXXX,

As I said, there is nothing wrong with traditions. I don't teach or promote any traditions to encourage maximum personal applications for an individual's own familiar traditions. My personal practice is to have a traditional Adventist church gathering on the yearly Sabbath the same as a weekly Sabbath. This is exactly in line with the Biblical command for a holy convocation. This is what is practiced by the Adventist groups I meet with, when I can. There are very few of these Adventist groups. I am not always able to travel the great distances to the few meeting locations. Because of the distance many people travel, these gatherings have several meetings a day like a typical camp meeting where people also travel to "congregate" and "convocate". :-)

I have even met with Church of God groups that still practice weekly and yearly Sabbath observance and are not very far away, when I can. These are a bit more awkward because their traditions, customs, and religious history are quite different from my own. I tried meeting a couple of times with a small Messianic group not too far away but their meetings were very short, limited, and a bit empty of content, which left me feeling a bit empty. I often pray that God will open more opportunities for worship to me.

He is in control and He has a plan.

Several people have asked and commented about the "Blood Moon Prophecy" idea sensationalized by John Hagee, Mark Biltz, and others.

Is your focus in danger of being led astray by traditions and mythology?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
