Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!  Are you ready?

Home / Archives

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 19th day of the 9th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6018 Anno Mundi.

The Spring Sabbaths begin in about 4 months with the first Sabbath of Unleavened Bread, the 15th day of the 1st month (Sunday, April 5th on the 2015, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset Saturday, April 4th).

The Sacred month begins on the world day after lunar conjunction and the sacred year begins with the Spring Passover Rule dates for determining the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is the same this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is one day early.

Continuing email responses from a new newsletter reader who is struggling to understand what the Bible says without the blinders of tradition. It requires careful study as the Bible instructs us and we must be diligent.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus answered, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'

They wrote:

I've been studying the matter. This is my perspective thus far.

Ellen Whites comments are clearly linked with Colosians 2:14-17. A direct linkage between the shadows, ordinances, new moons and sabbath days and the temporal nature stated in her comments

We have the types and the shadows in the ceremonial laws, and these were to last until they should meet the reality. The sacrificial offerings were continually revealing the fact that Christ was coming to our world, and when type met antitype in the death of Christ, then the sacrificial offerings, typifying Christ, were no more of any value, but the royal law of God could not be changed. {RH July 15, 1890 Par. 5}

Col 2:14    Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15    And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Col 2:16    Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17    Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Only 3 types of Gods Law exist (must be within one of these categories)
The moral law.
Law contains in ordinances or the Ceremonial law.
Statutes and judgments

Laws can be temporal just as Prophecies can be conditional. The implication that all laws are permanent seems incorrect.

An inaccurate "Logical equvalence" does not explain her further affirmation of the matter in Signs of the Times. Her affirmation also includes her understanding that the Ordinances and ceremonial law are the same.

But there is a law which was abolished, which Christ “took out of the way, nailing it to his cross.” Paul calls it “the law of commandments contained in ordinances.” This ceremonial law, given by God through Moses, with its sacrifices and ordinances, was to be binding upon the Hebrews until type met antitype in the death of Christ as the Lamb of God to take away the sin of the world. Then all the sacrificial offerings and services were to be abolished. Paul and the other apostles labored to show this, and resolutely withstood those Judaizing teachers who declared that Christians should observe the ceremonial law. – {ST September 4, 1884 Par. 3}

The ceremonial system was made up of symbols pointing to Christ, to His sacrifice and His priesthood. This ritual law, with its sacrifices and ordinances, was to be performed by the Hebrews until type met antitype in the death of Christ, the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. Then all the sacrificial offerings were to cease. It is this law that Christ “took ... out of the way, nailing it to His cross.” Colossians 2:14. But concerning the law of Ten Commandments the psalmist declares, “Forever, O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven.” Psalm 119:89. And Christ Himself says, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law.... Verily I say unto you”—making the assertion as emphatic as possible—“Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Matthew 5:17, 18. Here He teaches, not merely what the claims of God’s law had been, and were then, but that these claims should hold as long as the heavens and the earth remain. The law of God is as immutable as His throne. It will maintain its claims upon mankind in all ages. – {PP 365.1}

The summary of her writings and the Biblical relationships of the shadows, ordinances, holyday, new moons and sabbaths can only lead to one conclusion in my eyes thus far.

I responded:

I have made multiple explanations of many of these things already. I have also explained that it takes careful study to discern the differences between what is still practiced and what is not. It does not appear that you are able to see through the confusion yet. You have gone to other sources beside the Bible or EGW sources for collections of quotes and ideas to study and support the denominational viewpoint. I have recommended other Adventist sources to assist in support of what I understand but it does not appear you have considered those. I hope you do.

I don't know if continued attempts on my part to repeat previous explanations and explain every last detail of every quote and explain an alternate understanding of every objection is serving a proper purpose. I am not pressuring you to accept my understanding. Perhaps it is best to let the discussion rest while you study and consider. You can also choose to agree with the denominational teaching and we will just agree to disagree.

If you have any thought of changing my understanding, you are wasting your time. The Holy Spirit has sealed this truth in my mind and heart. I will never change from a belief that all of God's Law is still in force except for the sacrifices alone, as the Bible clearly states. I will never accept Satan's attempt to mislead me, as he has so many others, into discarding anything else of God's guidance for my benefit.

If you are seriously seeking to grasp an alternate understanding of what the Bible says, then I can continue to help.

Repeating what I have said before... Colosians 2:14 is the linchpin of Satan's deception to reject God's Law. This verse cannot be separated from verse 13:

Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Quoting from the Easy-to-Read Version, which is one case where Protestants! got it right.

Col 2:13 You were spiritually dead because of your sins and because you were not free from the power of your sinful self. But God gave you new life together with Christ. He forgave all our sins.
Col 2:14 Because we broke God's laws, we owed a debt--a debt that listed all the rules we failed to follow. But God forgave us of that debt. He took it away and nailed it to the cross.

There are even Adventist theologians who acknowledge this such as Thomas Shepherd from the Andrews Seminary. I told you about the talk he gave at 3ABN where he boldly told the truth, which contradicts the praised 3ABN book.

EGW states something slightly different. Her understanding of certain details is not perfect. However, even with her understanding of "nailing it to His cross", she was clearly referring only to the sacrifices. I recommend reading the chapter "New Bible Light" from my book or on the website.

http://www.iaua.name/NewBibleLight.html

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Only the sacrifice and the oblation cease.

Sometimes it is very difficult to see and understand the truth when you have been taught a lie and you are surrounded by many who practice and teach that lie. Only the Holy Spirit can break the blinding power of Satan by the light of God's Word.

The Law of death for sin has never changed. The final "sacrifice" of the wicked will occur at the end of the millenium. The practice of animal sacrifices was temporary. They pointed to the Savior's sacrifice for our sin. The animal sacrifice ended, as the Bible clearly teaches, when our Savior died on the cross in the midst of the week.

Do you believe any part of God's Law is temporary?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
