Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 9th day of the 6th month of the Biblical Calendar in the estimated year 6020 Anno Mundi.

The Fall Sabbaths begin in 3 weeks and 1 day on the 1st day of the 7th month (Saturday, September 3rd of the 2016, Gregorian Calendar, at sunset Friday, September 2nd).

On God's Calendar the Biblical month begins on the global day after lunar conjunction. The Biblical year begins with God's New Year's Day (Passover) after the spring equinox (Spring Passover Rule). The Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) is a month late this year. The Calculated Rabbinical Calendar is also a month late.

In another of my many ponderings, I was thinking about the lack of depth, in the Bible study of many people. Fifty years, I thought I studied the Bible deeply. I suddenly learned that my study was only guided by the church and was severely constrained to only what the church wanted me to study. When my eyes were opened, I was shocked with the limits of my knowledge of the Bible.

II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

At God's leading, I then spent two years of intense, full-time study of the Bible. I was shocked at the depths of what I learned. When I returned to the work of the world, I continued with intense, part-time study for many years. Then, I was shocked to learn how resistant the church was to learning any more about what the Bible says than they already knew and were comfortable with.

Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

Eventually, I also learned that there needs to be a balance of study and the rest of life.

Ecclesiastes 12:12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

I was pondering an analogy of the depths of study people are willing to pursue.

Pictures of the surface of the ocean are very beautiful and you can learn something about the ocean from pictures. This is like the typical person who listens to the preacher talk about the Bible. They rarely attend Sabbath School. They rarely even read the Bible for that matter.

Most preachers portray only the surface of the Bible. Unfortunately, some preachers spend a lot of time with shallow stories of the world or even talking about things that have very little, if any, to do with the Bible. Even worse, some spend time talking about themselves and other people without any basis in or reference to Bible study at all. A few preachers cover the surface of the Bible quite well and even present a few pictures below the surface.

However, nothing can replace seeing the ocean for yourself. In person you can discern the three-dimensional vastness of the ocean and the moving of the waves. They say a picture is worth a thousand words but seeing something for yourself is much better than just a picture. Do I need to point out the analogy to Bible study?

Spending more time observing the ocean you see the changing of the seasons, the passing of storms, and the difference between the calm and the roaring waves.

You don't really experience the ocean until you actually step into it. This is where you actually do what God's Word says in obedience. I firmly believe that without obedience you are limited in your understanding and the ability to learn more from God's Word.

But! There is more! You can wade along the shore like Sunday-keepers or you can actually swim where you can still touch the bottom like Sabbath-keepers. If you get really brave, you can swim where you can not touch the bottom like feast-keepers. Maybe, you will even try snorkeling and look beneath the surface or make shallow dives and practice some of the rest of the Law of Moses.

Malachi 4:4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

But! There is more! The truly brave and diligent will don scuba gear and become intimate with the ocean (all of the Law of Moses and obedience).

Joshua 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

We can not truly experience God, Truth, or Love until we commit ourselves completely.

Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

What depths of study do you practice?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
