Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 11th day of the 1st month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6014 Anno Mundi.

The Sacred New Year begins with the Spring Sabbaths in 3 days on the first Sabbath of Unleavened Bread starting the evening of the 15th day of the 1st month (Tuesday, April 19th on the 2011 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Monday, April 18th).

An amazing thing occurs in the Gregorian Calendar years of both 2011 and 2012. Those who follow the Millerite Calendar and the Jewish Calendar agree with what my research, and many others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar!

_____

Monday we will be traveling to Terra Bella, California to meet with hundreds of fellow Seventh-day Adventist believers in all of God's Law at the Bible Explorations Camp Meeting to celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

The Present Truth Bible Study Group has been disbanded after 8 sessions. We were down to three people beside my wife and I. A couple and one other person. I was disappointed but it was still progressing. Then out of nowhere a very argumentative, judgmental, and critical spirit was manifested, which made it clear something was seriously wrong. It was clear to me it would be impossible to return to an open examination and discussion of the deep issues of the Bible in the same setting.

This sudden turn of events reminded me of a discussion at work about the nearness of the Second Coming. I suggested it could be any year now and maybe even this year. I heard the echo of ideas I have heard many times in one form or another. "There is no way it could be this year (or any other time soon)!" "There are so many things, which must happen first and it will take a lot of time for it all to happen!"

I am reminded of the words of Paul. I have heard this interpreted to mean the Second Coming will be sooner. I suspect it means the Time of Trouble will be shorter.

28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
Romans 9:28

I have added all the emphasis of underlining in the Bible quotes and bold in EGW quotes.

EGW said many things about future events and I think the future has arrived. I notice very little talk these days about the words of a little old lady who had a lot to say. It is sad because I think we are going to wish we had payed more attention.

"Transgression has almost reached its limit. Confusion fills the world, and a great terror is soon to come upon human beings. The end is very near. We who know the truth should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world as an overwhelming surprise." {8T 28.1} {BTS, February 1, 1903 par. 4} {RH, September 10, 1903 par. 5}

There is a danger the Laodicean church will be just as surprised as the world will be.

"Christians should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world as an overwhelming surprise, and this preparation they should make by diligently studying the word of God and striving to conform their lives to its precepts. The tremendous issues of eternity demand of us something besides an imaginary religion, a religion of words and forms, where truth is kept in the outer court. God calls for a revival and a reformation. The words of the Bible and the Bible alone, should be heard from the pulpit. But the Bible has been robbed of its power, and the result is seen in a lowering of the tone of spiritual life..." {PK 626.1}

There is a great amount of preparation, which is needed.

"We are now to make diligent work for eternity. Only for a very short time longer will the Lord bear with the gross wickedness that fills the world. Oh how suddenly will the end come, surprising the world in their increasing iniquity." {MR760 25.4}

Are we comfortable or concerned?

"But there is a day that God hath appointed for the close of this world's history. This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." Prophecy is fast fulfilling. More, much more, should be said about these tremendously important subjects. The day is at hand when the destiny of every soul will be fixed forever. This day of the Lord hastens on apace. The false watchmen are raising the cry, "All is well"; but the day of God is rapidly approaching. Its footsteps are so muffled that it does not arouse the world from the deathlike slumber into which it has fallen. While the watchmen cry, "Peace and safety," "sudden destruction cometh upon them," "and they shall not escape"; "for as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth." It overtakes the pleasure-lover and the sinful man as a thief in the night. When all is apparently secure, and men retire to contented rest, then the prowling, stealthy, midnight thief steals upon his prey. When it is too late to prevent the evil, it is discovered that some door or window was not secured. "Be ye also ready: for in an such hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." People are now settling to rest, imagining themselves secure under the popular churches; but let all beware, lest there is a place left open for the enemy to gain an entrance. Great pains should be taken to keep this subject before the people. The solemn fact is to be kept not only before the people of the world, but before our own churches also, that the day of the Lord will come suddenly, unexpectedly. The fearful warning of the prophecy is addressed to every soul. Let no one feel that he is secure from the danger of being surprised. Let no one's interpretation of prophecy rob you of the conviction of the knowledge of events which show that this great event is near at hand." {FE 335.2}

We are children of the light when we receive the light.

"The days in which we live are eventful and full of peril. The signs of the coming of the end are thickening around us, and events are to come to pass that will be of a more terrible character than any the world has yet witnessed. "For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them." But to those who have the light of truth, it has been written, "Ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober." "And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." "Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning: lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping." {1888 1073.5}

I share in the hope she expresses for our people.

"We are warned that the Lord will come suddenly, surprising the world in their idolatrous wickedness. But I sincerely hope that our people will see the necessity of drawing near to God. We need at this time clear, decided testimonies, which are right to the point. The end of all things is at hand. I may see it myself. May God help me to do my work faithfully, that I may be ready to meet Him--watching, waiting, and praying. Only a little while longer and we shall see the King in His beauty." -Letter 243, 1903.
