Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 21st day of the 5th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6016 Anno Mundi.

The fall holy day season begins with Trumpets Sabbath in 5 weeks and three days starting the evening of the 1st day of the 7th month (Monday, September 17th on the 2012, Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Sunday, September 16th).

An amazing thing occurs in the Gregorian Calendar years of both 2011 and 2012. Those who follow the Millerite Calendar (Spring New Moon Rule) and the Jewish Calendar agree with the Spring Passover Rule dates my research, and others, has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar!

It has come to my attention the Karaite Calendar determination has placed The Fall Sabbaths a day later than others. This is probably because they use predicted visual sighting rules which can be very arbitrary.

In the 2012-05-25 newsletter War In Heaven I mentioned a discussion from the very active E-ventist Network on LinkedIn about creation. There seemed to be a strained attempt to add something to the Biblical account. Another of my responses introduced the idea of detailed principles for understanding the Bible. Some excerpts from the discussion.

Frank T. Clark • I think it is completely mistaken to take Genesis 1:1 and place a gap and some event before Genesis 1:2. As I stated before, Genesis 1:1 is not an event but an introductory summary to the Creation account. There is NO Biblical evidence for separating the two verses. Contextually, grammatically, and logically it is just an introduction to the events to follow.

The discussion began to get a little strained.

Frank T. Clark • You seem to be twisting the words of the Bible to create a problem which does not exist. Genesis 1:1 is an introduction and not a separate creation. Genesis 1:2 was before the earth was created. I have said this three times in three different ways. If it is not clear by now, then it will never be clear. You seem to have an agenda to prove a point and will not accept straight evidence to the contrary. I will not respond to further repetition.

The moderator made a plea for us to calm down.

Frank T. Clark • You are absolutely correct Jesse. The purpose is to share information and understanding. A willingness to learn all we can of what God has given us is a noble desire. God promises those who seek Him with all their heart will find Him.

Deu 4:29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

We seek Him because we love Him.

Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

I apologize for getting into a critical mode. I answered the question with the best information I could find and my understanding. If it is not accepted or understood, I need to just leave it where it is. Sometimes I try to explain too much when it appears the information is not understood.

Having been a teacher for many years in various situations, I sometimes forget when I am not a teacher and it is not my role to continue explaining until understanding is reached.

As a scientist I also fall into the trap of having researched extensively and becoming too intensely eager about the subject matter. You may be surprised to hear Bible study associated with the word science. I believe in the value of the scientific method applied to Bible study. The Bible often uses concepts of science to refer to an experience with God. Ellen White also used the words evidence of faith extensively. Might make a good study.

Mario Petrovalle • Frank the phrase "Evidence of faith" only appears three times in the writings of EGW. Two of them say the same thing, so here is one of the two

Christ values acts of heartfelt courtesy. When anyone did Him a favor, with heavenly politeness He blessed the actor. He did not refuse the simplest flower plucked by the hand of a child, and offered to Him in love. He accepted the offerings of children, and blessed the givers, inscribing their names in the book of life. In the Scriptures, Mary's anointing of Jesus is mentioned as distinguishing her from the other Marys. Acts of love and reverence for Jesus are an ** evidence of faith ** in Him as the Son of God. And the Holy Spirit mentions, as evidences of woman's loyalty to Christ: "If she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work." 1 Tim. 5:10. {DA 564.4}

I am interested in "scientific method applied to Bible study" - please explain

Frank T. Clark • Mario, I apologize for any confusion. I did not intend the words "evidence of faith" to be an exact quote. With a search by advanced query such as: "faith evidence"/5 we find many quotes such as this incredibly powerful quote:

"The word of God, like the character of its Author, presents mysteries that can never be fully comprehended by finite beings. But God has given in the Scriptures sufficient evidence of their divine authority. His own existence, His character, the truthfulness of His word, are established by testimony that appeals to our reason; and this testimony is abundant. True, He has not removed the possibility of doubt; faith must rest upon evidence, not demonstration; those who wish to doubt have opportunity; but those who desire to know the truth find ample ground for faith." {Ed 169.2}

A careful reading of any quote such as this one is part of the scientific method. It is easy to skim through material and miss the depth of the information presented. This is particularly true of spiritual messages since the devil is constantly at work to confuse and cloud the truth. So many people do not even know how to read with full comprehension even the surface of a message.

Part of the scientific method is inquiry such as Jesse stated in a very simple example. Searching written material such as you do often is also an important part of the scientific method. The more sophisticated the inquiry and search the more we can learn from the scientific method. I could go on and on about this subject as you have seen me do on other subjects... :-)

Believe it or not, I work very hard to restrain myself from going even further... I have written hundreds of thousands of words on my websites and newsletters based on a scientific investigation of the Bible leaning heavily on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Make no mistake! Dependence on prayer for the guidance of the Holy Spirit is a very important part of the scientific method for a believer. Particularly in Bible study.

Mario Petrovalle • Frank - the concept of applying scientific method to Bible Study is very interesting and I would like to include it on my website. Could you send me a few URLs to the material you wrote. I can send some traffic your way and have a mention of it on my website.

Frank T. Clark • Mario, I have not yet written a focused discussion of applying scientific method to Bible Study. This is now on my 'to do' list. I have made numerous comments about Bible Study and methods in particular and applying the scientific method in general. I will search through my material and collect what I have written. This will take quite a while to do. I recall some precious comments by Ellen White in a powerful, broad, and complex letter to Jones and Waggoner:

I have been looking in vain as yet to get an article that was written nearly twenty years ago in reference to the "added law." {1888 21.1}

I have sent repeatedly for my writings on the law, but that special article has not yet appeared. There is such an article in Healdsburg, I am well aware, but it has not come as yet. I have much writing many years old on the law, but the special article that I read to Elder Waggoner has not come to me yet. {1888 21.2}

The matter does not lie clear and distinct in my mind yet. I cannot grasp the matter, and for this reason I am fully convinced that presenting it has been not only untimely, but deleterious. {1888 22.2}

There are those who do not go deep, who are not Bible students, who will take positions decidedly for or against, grasping at apparent evidence; yet it may not be truth, and to take differences into our conferences where the differences become widespread, thus sending forth all through the fields various ideas, one in opposition to the other, is not God's plan, but at once raises questionings, doubts whether we have the truth, whether after all we are not mistaken and in error. {1888 23.1}

It has been over two months and I have worked a bit here and there on this project. The final result will take a great deal of preparation but I have reviewed some of my newsletters where I speak of aspects of the "Scientific Method Applied to Bible Study" and compiled this list, which I will use as the foundation for making the presentation.
