Preparing for the End of Time

The Lord is Coming!   Are you ready?

Home / Archives

Dear Brothers and Sisters in IAUA (ee-ah-oo-ah) our Father,

Greetings on this day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. I pray this newsletter finds you in good health and happy in the service of IAUA. This is the 15th day of the 7th month of God's Sacred Calendar in the estimated year 6014 Anno Mundi.

Today is Tabernacles Sabbath from the evening of the 15th day of the 7th month (Friday, September 24th on the 2010 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Thursday, September 23rd).

It is 6 days until Last Day Sabbath on the evening of the 22nd day of the 7th month (Friday, October 1st on the 2010 Gregorian Calendar, beginning sunset on Thursday, September 30th).

This year, those who follow the Millerite Calendar determination will be one month later than my research has determined for the Gregorian Calendar dates of God's Sacred Calendar. The dates on the Jewish Calendar are one day early in the spring and one day early in the fall.

I know you will say I am crazy but I feel a strong sense of expectancy in the air. An urgency and tension is building. I hope and I pray something is going to start happening soon. I was thrilled to see the first sentence in this Fall's brochure for the 3ABN Camp Meeting in Jim Gilley's welcome.

"One more Homecoming Camp Meeting here on earth — I had hoped this one would be in the Kingdom, hadn't you? I know each of us looks forward to hearing " Welcome home, children!" in Heaven soon. But until then,"...

Ahh yes, but until then... What are we doing while we are waiting for the Saviour to return?

I received an email on Atonement Sabbath last Sunday from a new visitor to my website with a lot of discussion and interesting links to various topics. The most interesting link discusses some fascinating details of the influence of paganism on the early church. In particular the influence of Mithraism.

_____

Some quotes from the website: (Original reference: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10402a.htm)

Helios Mithras is one god... Sunday was kept holy in honour of Mithra... The 25 December was observed as his birthday, the natalis invicti, the rebirth of the winter-sun, unconquered by the rigours of the season.

...

Christmas was specifically December 25th because of Mithraism according to many scholars including the ones below:

It is true that in the history of the Church Mithraism made itself felt. We acknowledge it to this day. For in the course of the fourth century the commemoration of Christ's birth was changed from January 6 to December 25, in order to agree with the commemoration of the birth of Mithra. This was done probably with the object of weakening the Mithra cult, by giving its chief festival a Christian atmosphere (Hastings, James; Hastings, Ann Wilson; Hastings, Edward. The Expository times, Volume 19. T. & T. Clark., 1908. Original from the University of Michigan Digitized Dec 8, 2008, p. 247).

...

Birthdays themselves apparently were adopted by Greco-Romans because of Mithraism:

It is thought that the large-scale celebration of birthdays in Europe began with the cult of Mithras, which originated in Persia but was spread by soldiers throughout the Roman Empire. Before this, such celebrations were not common; and, hence, practices from other contexts such as the Saturnalia were adapted for birthdays. Because many Roman soldiers took to Mithraism, it had a wide distribution and influence throughout the empire until it was supplanted by Christianity. (Wikipedia. Birthdays. July 12, 2007 version)

Birthdays, however, were not observed by the ancient Jews nor the early Christians. For more on birthdays, please see the article Did Early Christians Celebrate Birthdays?

_____

I had often suspected the observance of birthdays was of pagan origin and now I read documentation of the fact. The most corrupt birthday practice is Christmas observance. Sunday worship, birthdays, and pagan holiday observances are all tied together.

The email contained a lot of concepts which I addressed with some comments of my own.

Thank you for your wide ranging article on your background, your witness to following God's truth, and some topics of present interest to God's people. I see you are a diligent student and researcher of God's plan for His people.

I also have studied diligently looking for truth in these and other issues. I hope some of my research into these issues will be beneficial to you. My primary concern is what the Word of God says though I do read EGW for helpful background insights. After considering what other people say I always return to what the Bible says as my primary focus.

There is an infiltration of many errors in the church of which only a part is any overt Jesuit infiltration. We must be careful for the danger of Satan's deceptions separating us from God's people. These are some articles I have written which mention this topic.

There is a great deal of concern and confusion about the Trinity doctrine which you mention. I agree there is error there but it requires careful study to separate error from what is true and avoid throwing out truth with the error.

2010-05-07 Trinity Revisited

There is a great deal of Present Truth which is not seen and understood. Many are trapped in the 19th century concept of Present Truth. The “Present Truth” emphasized in the 19th century is not the same “Present Truth” which is truly present in the 21st century, the last century of this world of sin.

Mission Statement

I hope we will continue to correspond and I hope you will continue to meet weekly with believers of God's Word in holy convocation on His appointed day.

Leviticus 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

There are always errors to be found but we must not abandon God's plan. I always attend the local Seventh-day Adventist church, no matter what errors are sometimes taught.

I encourage you in your continued study and I hope you will benefit from reviewing the results of my study which I share with others. I look forward to additional discussion with you.

If you like, I can send you copies of the books I have written. Just provide your shipping address. Some individuals find it more beneficial to read an actual book rather than a website on a computer.

Thank you for brightening up my Atonement Sabbath observance.

Are you diligently studying for truth to break free from this world's traditions? Are you comfortably going along with the crowd?

I pray we may all continue to seek love, peace, and unity in truth preparing for the soon coming of IAUShUO (ee-ah-oo-shoo-oh) Messiah, the Son of God.
